Itching to get started...

Postby Benjamin Stotter on Fri Jun 04, 2010 8:06 am

Hey all

I've been reading a lot of inspiring posts on BN in the short time that I've been a member here and I'd really like to start putting my Magnetic Sponsoring Affiliate program to good use.

I've already read through What do you need help with? and I have some questions.

In the thread I spoke of above there's mention of creating my own capture page vs just using Mike's capture pages. If I do create my own capture page with Mike's 7 day boot camp how would I go about getting my leads onto Mike's newsletter?

There was also mention about 'double opt-in'. Surely a lead would be annoyed to opt-in on my own custom capture page and then again onto Mike's capture page straight afterwards?

Like I said, I'm so hyped to get going with this. I just need a little guidance. I'm a web developer so I more than capable of creating my own websites for all of this.

P.S. I have no budget for PPC. I'm barely scraping by each month. :?

Hey Benjamin,

Unfortunately you can't integrate your own capture page into Mike's newsletter. But you could create your own training and direct your prospects who opt in to your capture page to the Magnetic Sponsoring Sales Page. The link for the MS sales page is in the MS backoffice.

But it sounds like you need more than just a capture page... sounds like you need some help driving traffic as well since you said you have no ppc budget. If you'd like a little help with some strategies to do that let me know and I'll be willing to help you get started.

Hi Peter

Thanks, I have a few ideas for generating some leads (submitting articles, using social media, forums etc). I plan on building my own blog and placing the banners on there as well. I guess I should simply start with that then? :?:

Hey Benjamin,

That's a great place to start! I've got a developer's license for a great Premium Wordpress Theme. If you want a copy let me know and I can email it to you. If you're on skype pm me your id and I'll give you a call to discuss.

Hi Ben,

First of all a bit of calamine on that itch should take care of it.

I heard David Wood the other night discuss an important point about marketing. If you are on "guru" calls and they suggest a marketing method you can bet that that method is going to be saturated for a while and produce few results. What he suggested is if everyone is zigging, you're best off to zag.

As far as double opt-in goes, that's going to be a raging discussion with proponents on both sides. You'll have to experiment with one method or the other. Perhaps do a split test over time to see which method wins. Personally, I'm tempted by single opt-in, but use double because a double-opt-inner would seem to be more eager to get my info. But, that's just one opinion.

Good luck with it. Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist.

Thanks for the offer Peter and as much as I appreciate it I'm going to be building my blog myself. ;)

I tend to stay away from CMS (content management system) solutions like Wordpress because they have features that cater to just about anything and more than half those features are either never used or needed.

Bespoke systems are the way to go with web.

Thanks for the advice. I guess split testing is the only way to know for sure ;)
