Best way to promote MS?
Invest in You.inc!
Generating traffic depends on what you like doing. I like writing so I tend to do more with my blog and article submission than anything else.
I use the social networks, but nowhere near as much as I should.
I also still keep my hand in with TE's and safelists. Not that the traffic from them is as good as from other sources. But it keeps me updated with whatever is the latest 'hype' programme out there. I get to see new capture pages with ideas that I can swipe. And some of the ads in the safelists are pretty good, so they can go into my swipe file too!
Also, if you're wanting to get traffic and links to a blog, check out Comment Sniper. It's free and a nifty little tool to boot!

Hi Jose,
I use a blog, forums and free ads to promote MS right now. Soon I'll be starting with Social Networks. I think the method you choose will eventually be determined by where you are comfortable with.

Promoting MS?
You can start off by writing generic articles on Network Marketing (remember resource box is important if you are doing article marketing), next do up a personal blog and BRAND YOU(as stated by san).
Then submit your personal website(is best you have it-it will be your own lead generation system) to search engines and do up basic SEO. Then do a search on Google on Network Marketing, People looking to earn money forum. Drop some quality information along with your sig.
That would be about all.
Just Rinse and Repeat.....

When you say this, do you mean someone who has his/her own targeted audience rather than just getting the email list from them?
If so, is this usually done by paying somebody to do that or by making an agreement to promote eachother's products and servies like jazlai posted in his thread?

Re: 3 choicest traffic generation techniques
It depends on if you are talking long-term or short-term traffic generation. Also the quality of the traffic is important.
For short-term, I believe some top choices would be:
1. Getting a marketer with a 500k+ email list to promote you.
2. Tapping into some CPA (cost-per-acquisition) Networks
3. Google PPC (pay-per-click)
4. Buying existing Web Sites with a incoming traffic already (see http://marketplace.sitepoint.com)
5. Buying media (like on a site like this one).
If you want a lot of crappy traffic, you can check out traffic exchanges.
For long-term, you have a lot of choices.
1. Blogging definitely (over time, I find this to be superior) - Leads to a lot of organic traffic (free
traffic) and opens the doors to many opportunities such as advertising for other people and making
huge profits.
2. Videos
3. Live weekly (or bi-weekly) conference calls/webinars, Internet TV show, podcasts, etc.
4. Social networks - Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc.
5. Article marketing -- I recommend you hire a writer and use a service like Article Marketer to submit them (works for me and I believe this is how Daegan Smith dominated).
You'll find that most of the long-term strategies are closely related and over time create a well oiled traffic syndication machine.
I feel the key is to have a long-term plan and a short-term plan. Most marketers only want to focus on one or the other.
See you at the top,
Forest

I'm not sure what Jaz is offering, but yet, you would pay them to promote your offer.
What are you offering Jaz?
See you at top,

I'd be very hesitant to recommend #1, #2, and #5... I also have reservations about #4.
#1, #2, and #5 are highly risky and costly. Unless you've already honed in on your precise message, have done several rounds of testing with other mediums (i.e. with AdWords), you stand to lose a lot of money, more so with #2 than the other 2.
As for #4, you'll again want to make sure it's the right market and if that's the case, I reckon that you'd end up paying a chunk of change for a website that's worth buying.
And if you are talking about expired domains, that's crap shoot because odds are, the existing readership is already gone. You can try doing it and then using it from the pure SEO perspective (i.e. maybe it already has some PageRank on it) but that might be a bit advanced for a newbie.
#3 is viable, just be sure you think outside of the box or else you'll blow through tons of $$$ on highly competitive terms.

Re: 3 choicest traffic generation techniques
Forest has some great ideas that I never occurred to me. Thanks, Forest, much appreciated. This is what this forum is all about, the exchange of ideas. If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer. Personally, I like to do a little bit of everything. I like to build my blog, interact on the social sites and here at BN. However, since I am not chained to my computer 24/7, I also like to go out and network (not network marketing) and meet new people. When it comes the social networking sites, and here at BN, people will contact you if they are interested. Another thing to consider is auto responders. These work better if they are associated with the product and business you are promoting. So, in answer to your question, what would be my top three traffic generation techniques, it would have to be:
auto responders
pay per clicks (the good ones such as google)
blogs
Thanks,
Chris

100% agree that it's good to have a message honed in for the short-term methods. Also agree that PPC is the best playground to test.
If you do have a good message that converts, I feel option #1 can be superior if you hook up with the right people. Actually, on some lists, your message can be average and still generate a net profit. A few out there offer guarantees and I know one guy in particular who constantly genenrates thousands of dollars net profit off one E-Mail.
As for as buying expired domains, I'm not talking about that at all. I'm talking about buying Web Sites that are fully functional with cash flow coming in. Like anything, you have to do your homework. But there are some great sites out for sale (just like there is good real estate for sale).
People move on to bigger projects, get health issues, etc. I love buying Web Sites - it's a very underated cash flow method not used too much.
