Black Belt Recruiting approach question

Postby Peter Cruz on Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:49 am

I didn't know where else to post this.. so feel free to move to another forum if needed mods. I have done the CD's and the book for BBR and will go thru it again.. but I'm confused on something.. so was hoping for some guidance from some of you who MAY be more experienced in these ways....

In the course, I understand the mindset and the general approach.. and a great deal of time is spent on online and phone prospects. Not a whole lot on person to person (though the same principles apply I know). But where I'm confused is this: with the abundant mentality and the prospects "come to me" isn't the "approach" of someone you meet crossing the line of "being needy?" For example they used an example of a great "waiter or waitress" when you go out to eat.. and ask them "Do you keep your options open?"

I'm guessing if they say "Yes" I hand them MY business card, explain they can work FOR THEMSELVES rather than someone else, and then let them call ME so I can interview them (NOT pitch the opportunity)? If they are worthy.. give them some homework.. and let them call us back again? Then SIGN em UP?

Or how would you proceed? Prior to the MS series courses.... I would prospect EVERYONE under the sun (waiters, contractors, etc).. but never so much as got a call (came across too needy?). I don't know.. I was hoping for some guidance if possible.

Thanks a million everyone!

If you are trying to twist their arm to join up to your really great opportunity they think they will have to go around beating up on strangers too.

On the other hand if you tell them you are looking for a select few people to work with you on a business venture and you think they might have the right attributes would they be interesting in applying? Then it gives them the impression what you are offering is selective (and it should be anyway) and that if they don't respond it is an opportunity that will pass them by (not one that will be back beating on them next week).

You Have got it down to a science. people can be closed (arm twisted) but you will loose them quickly. If folks will follow your advice they will find people that will work and try to achieve success.

If you are a closer and are looking to make their profits up front you can arm wrestle. If you are a business builder find those you can coach to success.

Exactly. The whole conversation shifts from "please join me so I can make money off of you" to "I have something that can change your life but you can't have it unless you qualify" it makes them drawn to you and there's a sense of loss if they don't take action to at least check it out.

It's great that you have the concept down. One thing the course does not go into detail, but it's implied is to go with what your gut is telling you.

A leader can only guide you, but if you feel it's not right, forget it.

From what you wrote, I would go with your first approach because that's seems to be what you're gut feeling is telling you.

You'll figure this out with experience. That's my two cents.

Thanks everyone. I am probably going to re-read BBR here sometime soon. Seems like I have the concepts "internalized" =) but I think i need a refresher course... just going to wait for the PPC Domination buzz to wear off first. ;)
