So I posted a solo ad on Top Surfer entitled Are You Stupid? It got a few prospects. 10 out of 515 views so far. But I got one nasty email from a member of TopSurfer that thought my ad was offensive and one of the prospects in my list put an email address that was clearly sarcastic as well as fictitious.
The point of my ad though was not to offend anyone but to help them understand that the reason that they're probably failing at MLM is not because they're stupid but because they haven't been thought the right way how to do it. I certainly thought that I was stupid after failing at every business opportunity I pursued and I thought that other people felt the same way.
I'm new to this whole ad thing and was just trying to grab peoples attention. I suspect though that most people read the title and not the ad. Do you think my ad title was too harsh? Should I even run that ad again? Also I don't even know if I should call my prospects or write to them. I don't want them to remember me as the guy that called them stupid.
Thanx.

I wouldn't worry too much about it Nico. In fact if it generated that much interest I'd be using it again.
Folks tend to skim over safelist ads and it's the headline that will make or break your ad. If it gets them to open the ad, it's done it's job.
Look how much discussion some of Mike's mails generate.

Re:Boy I feel so stupid.
Thanx a lot for your advice san! Before I even posted this I modified the ad and submitted it at another site because I was afraid it would get negative responses! LOL. But I guess that's not the point. Point is just to get them to open it. I'll run the original ad in other safe lists and see what happens.
Btw, how soon should I call my prospects? A few days after or the same day they sign up?
Thanx.

Your title definitely caught my attention, because I have been there. I might be there right now, unless this teaches me how to get some web traffic!!

Hi Nico,
Here's my take:
If your conversion rate with this ad was better than average, it was a great headline.
If your conversion rate with this ad was lower than average, the headline might have been one of the reasons.
All the Best,
Mark

You might have a point. My conversion rate has been 0. But the add was long so that could be a part of it too.

Re:Boy I feel so stupid.
So you had 10 out of 515 people fill out information, but none of them signed up for your program? How long after they left their information did you call them?
I thought your title was catchy.
