Well Ian
Where to start?
First you need to think about what you offer as a leader and who you want to read your blog.

Their biggest dreams, hopes, fears, pains, frustrations and how you can help them get the results they want and need.

Then you need to come up with a reason for them to opt in. What can you offer them that is unique and compelling?

From the other post you put up, I am sure you understand that you need to have a Wordpress.org blog not a free one right?

Setting up the blog itself isn't all that hard, but customizing it can be. Also using it can be a bit tricky at first so I would recommend getting some help there.

You will also need autorepsonders, a lead capture form and links for people to connect with you on here or other social networking sites.

I know that sounds like a lot but it is worth it in the end.
Think Nerve Center not blog as well. Everything comes in and out of one spot. Makes it dead easy to brand you and your leadership.

I did a video on what a Nerve Center is compared to a regular blog or capture pages-

Let me know if you have any questions on building one or getting one done like ours for under $100.

I am excited for you! This is going to be great for your business!
Cheers!

That's AWESOME Ian! Kudos to you for taking a major step in the right direction in establishing your online presence. The best advice I can give you in starting your blog is this: Do your research and put your own spin on things.

Do your keyword research. It's all well and good to be posting fantastic content, but if you're not optimizing what you're writing so that people can find it, it's going to take you a lot longer to win. I'm not saying that you can't, especially if you have a really great personality and people start spreading your stuff around virally, but you can't rely on that.

You've got to take some action and see what people are searching for in the market.

Once you've done that, you can start framing your blog topics around that content. Now, it's important to remember that no matter what you're doing on your blog, it's got to come from YOU. It's got to be in your style, your voice, your mannerisms, all you. Even the quirky stuff that you never thought people would be interested in, do it.

People want to get to know you. And they can't get to know you if you don't let yourself shine through in your work. You're a unique individual (aren't we all) and you've got to let that shine through in your blog.

Otherwise, you're just writing a bunch of words on a page that will mean nothing to anybody.

And yes, you can write great content that shows off your personality and STILL get picked up in the search engines so that people can find you, if you're doing your research.

But the most important thing I can tell you about blogging when you're getting started is that you've just got to go out there and DO IT! Don't wait, start as soon as you get things installed. Post early, post often. When you're getting started it will absolutely only benefit you in the long run if you can post on a DAILY BASIS, if at all possible.

If you can't do daily, 3 times a week is minimum, at least until you're established.

You've got your work cut out for you my friend, but you have the power within you to produce a fantastic blog that shows off your knowledge and positions you as a leader that will attract other people. Good luck my friend! :D
I love hanging out with cool people. Let's connect, shall we?

Hop on over to my blog and let's start talking! ==> Mike's blog

Ian be absolutely focused. One set of keywords thematically linked across the blog makes it recognised as a specialist blog. Many blogs on many such keyword themes work better than spreading out tags and categories over non-congruent words.

Embrace plugins. Linus has some interesting posts on this subject. And most importantly, self-host and update at least twice a week.

Hey Ian,

It's a wise decision to start your blog because your blog will be a place where you can establish yourself as a leader and add value to your readers.

I would suggest doing your keyword research for the posts that you plan to write.

Address the issues that people will have in there businesses.

Add your picture to your blog for massive branding.

Use your name for the domain, hostgator.com is the hosting company I use and I would recommend them to everyone.

Hostgator.com's support team are second to none!, you can also install a wordpress blog on to your domain with a push off a button, very easy.

You can use a program called artisteer to create your custom theme for your blog.

The very main purpose for your blog is to add value to your reader so write about what you have learn't along your journey in this industry, when you learn something new that is valuable share it on your blog.

If you are new and you don't have much knowledge in this industry just learn something new everyday off sites like:

Ezinezrtilce.com
BetterNetworker.com
WarriorForum.com

And share it!

To your success,

A few things:

1. This is the best theme IMO for Network Marketing: http://www.flexibilitytheme.com/

2. Your blog is not going to attract visitors per se. But it should be the place where you send people to.

Your articles, social profiles, videos should have links to your blog. That is how you will quickly attract visitors.

But your blog should be the focal point, and the theme above is very flexible and it includes Squeeze page templates.

Another tip. DO NOT splatter your blog with ads! You are there to help, right? Put your ads on a seperate page such as "my tools" or "i recommend" etc.

Once you gained their trust they will find their way to your ads.

Contrary to what some are teaching, your lead capture pages are not meant to rank on Google. It's just a page where you send people to to introduce them to your offer without ANY distractions such as links to other parts of your site. Once they are there they obly have two options either sign up, or not. And lead capture pages work best with free offers. Earn their trust and respect before pitching ;)

Here are a few ways to get your blog exposure fast:

Always have a site map for all your sites, and ensure the site map is submitted to
Google. You can create a free site map using the following site.

http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

Once your site map is created, then upload it to your site, then submit it to
Google using the link below:

https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview?hl=en

Site Explorer: Submit your sitemaps using Yahoo Site Explorer, similar format to Google Webmaster Tools

http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

One way backlinks is one of the best and most effective ways to get high positions in search engines and milk these positions for targeted traffic. But getting quality one way links is a big job.

Free Traffic System is a new project that helps you to get top quality one way links for free - unlimited number of one way links, because you build as many as you need. Moreover, they have integrated a brand new concept of viral marketing, rewarding you with bonus one way links.

Wordpress now has an all in one SEO pack. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/ to optimize your your blog, providing you use wordpress. You want to make sure either way that you have your meta tags and keywords in your header, or insert them using a meta keyword tool which is part of this SEO pack.

Follow WickedTraffic on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wicked-Traffic/345715786807?ref=pymk They have 100's of posts leading to methods of promoting yourself on the web.

Post often with content that is relevant.

Add a news feed to your blog. This is by far the easiest way if you are unfamiliar with feeding your blog via PHP and virtual insert. It is a tool developed by adult blog resource but it work just fine on non adult sites. If someone knows of an easier way to news feed a blog than this, I'd be interested in hearing about it.http://www.adultblogresource.com/rss2anywhere/

Hi there

Blogging is a brilliant tool that should definitely be used as part of your online marketing strategy. Not only is it a great avenue for getting people connected to you, it’s also a simple and effective way to direct them to your website. By posting frequently you also raise your online profile, which is great for public awareness of your company and your SEO. One of the most immediately enjoyable things about blogging, though, is getting people to comment and seeing discussions start. This again draws attention to the blog and back to your company, especially if you do it well and consistently.

There are several elements involved in writing blogs, everywhere from topic and content to tone and style. Blogs are an excellent place to connect with people, so I always keep mine causal and personable. I like to cover current events as well as professional and personal topics. By varying what you write about, you are virtually unrestricted with new topics. It also presents a well rounded blog site, and keeps your readers interested. If you only ever blogged about politics, only die hard political fans will remain interested in your posts. And don’t shy away from controversial topics – they are great for starting conversation!

You blog should always include some thoughts by yourself, and usually that involves an opinion or a story – or both. It’s good to get people involved and get comments and discussions going. One of the best ways to do this is to have questions at the end which either invite people to share or provoke them to action in some other way (like asking for advice). Keep a positive or humorous tone about it – nobody wants a downer. So if you have a negative story to share, like a horrible experience, be sure to put a twist on it so people can sympathise without getting depressed!

Some people only post once a week, other people post several times a day. The once a week people generally tend to be conservative business people who are afraid of flooding their site. The multiple times a day bloggers tend to be social bloggers. I prefer to be more in the middle of the road and post once a day. This keeps SEO up, gives my readers something to look forward to each day, and increases my online profile. You can post as often or as rarely as you like, but I would say a minimum of two to three times per week, and preferably every day. Every once in a while you could do two blogs in a day.

Remember content is king so write about what you feel will add value to your reader.

Best of luck

Lilach
