I think those two are connected to each other. The source of the lead is just as important as how you interact with them. For example, you could have a "lead" from a free lead generation site called orangeleads (actually used to use it) and end up with someone who literally has no idea about making money online or mlm or anything for that matter, and yet is considered a lead. Sure I could interact and develop a relationship with this person but in my book it is a waste of time unless someone does more than say yes I am interested to a question, especially via phone.
Take a lead that I generate with a specific video from a blog I did, I would consider this a much higher quality lead firstly based on the source of lead. Now of course it is up to me to give this person what they want or to just jerk around online.
Also, I realize that hey this phone system probably works but I am just expressing my dislike with it. I guess maybe because I have gotten a bunch of those automated phone calls half cut off to my voicemail
