In email marketing, a big part of keeping your leads happy and engaged with you is by providing them with a series of informative, and addictive newsletters. If you can't catch a person's interest, you will not be able to sell to them. In order for it to catch a person's interest, it must generally relate to them in some way.
First and foremost, you MUST be providing your leads with VALUE! Plain and simple, people do not want to read crap, they want to know how the information will benefit them. An initial way to grab their attention is with a catchy heading, that could also be personalised to suit them. This will at the very least improve how many people actually look at your email.
Secondly, it is very important to have a website where prospects can opt-in to you as subscribers, or make requests for your newsletter. If there is no way for them to reach your newsletters, then there is no point in you writing the newsletters in the first place. Common sense really!
Thirdly, you HAVE to have a solid advertising campaign that promotes your newsletter. This is the only way to raise awareness of what you are offering them by subscribing to you. There are many methods you could use to do this such as, Facebook, Twitter, Google Pay Per Click, YouTube videos, and Ezine Advertising to name a few. Once you can direct traffic to your opt-in form, you will offer them to leave their name and email in exchange for your newsletter series.
Finally, it is absolutely ESSENTIAL that you utilise an auto-responder, in order for you to realistically email all your leads on a regular basis. I personally recommend Aweber as it is a powerful and highly regarded auto-responder service. This will free your life from a lot of stress rather than having to consistently email each and every one of your subscribers individually. It will save so much time!
An example of what could be a powerful newsletter would be to email an expert on a particular topic and record their responses. Once you have done that, you could send out an email interview series once weekly that covers a different aspect of the information the expert shared. This would be a strong method to keep your leads hooked and wanting more if the value you provide them with is of a high standard! You could even eventually combine all these interviews into a retail product that you could sell as a funded proposal!
Here is a great video about a newsletter group called Tasting Table, who have grown their email list to over a million subscribers! I highly recommend you watch it.
It now should be very clear why offering a newsletter is an extremely powerful way to build your list of subscribers, and how it would greatly improve your chances of converting your leads into buyers!
