The rules on sharing links in the forums are clearly laid out in the forum rules and guidelines:

Rule #1: No Blatant Advertising

This is going to be the BIGGEST REASON a post will be deleted. SIGNATURES ARE THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN ADVERTISE! Obvious spamming of opportunities, paid affiliate links, etc, will get deleted. These forums are not places to promote your business or affiliates. Do that in the opportunity section of the site. Having links to YOUR OWN site or YOUR business in your signature is OK. Please no AFFILIATE links anywhere in ANY posts.

However, it is never acceptable for a members start attacking other members of the community if they appear to be breaking the rules.

If one members suspects another members is breaking the forum rules then the appropriate response is to politely bring it to the attention of the offending member that may or may not be violating the rules and guidelines here in the forums.

If they persist, and you believe they are breaking the rules the next appropriate step is to report them by submitting a support request at the Better Networker help desk:

http://www.betternetworker.com/help

If there is any doubt in the slightest about the rules and guidelines here rest assured that the final decision will be made by an administrator who will take the past behavior of a member into account.

Warnings will be issued because we understand that people make honest mistakes. If the warnings are ignored the next logical step is to ban the offending member from the community.

The bottom line is stated in the forum rules and guidelines:

Rule #3: No Attacks By Anyone

No personal attacks against products, people, or opportunities.

The forum rules and guidelines are accessible here:

If a member is in doubt about the actions of other members they suspect of breaking the rules in guidelines they should not take matters into your own hands.

They should submit a support request at the Better Networker help desk:

Hello,

First, I have to say that I am glad I discovered this place, it is full of valuable information, and great people. It is a cornucopia of great knowledge..

Now, here is my opinion from a "newbie" point of view about links, I think if somebody has a question, and an individual can answer better with a link, it would be great! I think must be allowed as long as it is something of value, for example, linking to an article or video within betternetworker to answer a question.

There are great articles written every day that most are not aware of that.

There are also great resources and news that happen all the time in the internet world that we can share with links. We live in a very rapid changing world, information is vital to adapt and stay with the changes, I don't see how a link can be damaging.

We have a great place here, with great information. There is also a lot of good talent in this site, instead limiting, we can expand the way the information is share.

I agree 100%,

ArticleProductions wrote:Exactly my point .. Yes starting a thread to say look at my video or look at my articles is spamming.. But someone asking for the information or someone needing the information - it is only wise to provide it. Yes we are talking value here and not Spam - BN...

So I still think the rules need to be clarified ...

I absolutely agree with James and George, if someone asked for information we should be able to provide it within the discussion. Not only for that one person but for others to see seeking the same information.

Okay I had to step in here, because I did not know that

"Starting a thread to say look at my video or look at my articles is spamming"

I have done this a few times, however hear me out... :D

Claire had posted a thread in this manner before,

AND,

she was featured in the Better Networker newsletter for it.

So what's with the double ended sword here ???? :o

ArticleProductions wrote:According to admin you are not supposed to do it .... Basically it is the same thing as self promotion and those that say "Look at my sig, I have all your problems solved"...

Then again we have tried over and over to get a real answer on "self promotion" because it can be defined in several different ways...
