Okay, Lynda. Here's another thought for you.
I do use business cards when I have them.
Recently, I ran out of cards and brochures. Everybody I associate with knew me so I didn't bring any with me.
I met someone new in the group. We started talking and the subject got around to what I did in business.
I suggested for him to go to my facebook page and look up my website.
A person would remember a simple word or website to go to rather than have a business card.
I told him about my products and how it works for me. And he could readily see the results for himself.
I could only refer him to go to my website or remember to go to facebook and look me up.
Doing it this way was easier to remember and just go to the facebook and view everything on the subject.
He can then decide to continue further or contact me for more questions.
It was very simple and easy to do without handling a lot of business cards around.

No, I do not think business cards are dead. I find they are great for getting your URL's out there and for networking purposes. Many times when talking to people they do not have a pen to write down my website's or email address. My business card brands me as a professional and provides easy access for them to reach me online.

Mind you, Lynda, I made my own business cards when I first started out.
After awhile, the quality was not there. To me, the cards did not look professional to present to people I wanted to impress. I went to better quality paper with not too much success with them either.
I eventually went to my company and bought my business cards. They looked professional enough and I only added my identification badge on them. In time, I could have those reproduced all at one time.
Keeping the costs down is very important when starting out on a shoestring budget.

Yes of course Mario that can work, but there is still the possibility he doesn't go right away and he forgets you facebook name, then he will forget and go back to his life.

But... you could have a card that reflect you and your personality, and as you can see from all of these posts there are not two cards alike, and then he will hold that card for as long as he want and then one day he will do it, because he has a need and he has your card.

That is my take..

That is perfect Carl,

"We brand ourselves as a professional" so true yes exactly what I wanted to bring out in this forum subject, it helps us stand out. Especially if our card has something unique about it. Don't go for plain Jane cards, but something that brands you! Love it thanks Carl.

You definitely need business cards.

You have a great conversation with someone. Maybe even they say they will check out your website.
Great. As soon as you are gone, they will forget, not be sure of the address etc...

The business card reminds not only of their intention to check it, but reminds them who you are.

It should have some sparkle to it. But no info other than your name/brand, website and phone number.

Without a business card, what do you do when some asks how to contact you or your web address? Do you scrawl it on a scrap of paper? Trust to their memory? I guess you could, but it doesn't seem very professional. At least, not to me.

Right Betsy it sure doesn't look very professional to scratch it on the piece of paper or the deposit slip, lol. I like what you said about sparkle, that would be what your brand is about. Also what do you specialize in, or do you have a slogan or a mission statement or a call to action there. In other words why should they visit your website. We have to remember that there are so many people trying to get their attention.

I also liked what you said about memory. And this is not an old age disease but it has to do with so many things that we are trying to do, most of us have so many things going on that even when we are talking to someone we may be thinking about all of the things that we need to get done everyday. I think I have a pretty good memory, but 5 minutes later I have forgotten their name, but if I have their card, and if they have made an impression on me, I will take action.

Finally, if someone actually takes the time to go to your website or call you from you card, then they are a very very targeted lead!

Hi Lynda,
I tend to go for the understated approach.
For the reason that so many are clamoring for attention, I think that the muted approach works better.
Although, I have not tested this approach so I could be completely wrong.

I do like to put a photo on the card so they can place me in the content of their world. I usually put a fun one of me and my family.
Photo, name, website, phone. All on an interesting looking card.

What works for you?

business cards always has importance yeah no doubt, traditional and boring business cards stuff lost their importance, many online printing services companies offered new unique cards design according to customer demand. So you will see many of creative and remarkable business cards design in market. We used to plastic business cards in our organization with company logo and tags.

Here is another key thing, its not how many you give out, its how many you collect and follow up on!
