Are you mad enough yet?

Postby Joyce Penner on Tue Apr 24, 2012 5:25 pm

Doesn't it just tick you off to be spending months, years working your butt off and still you haven't made any money in your network marketing company?

A friend of mine told me today it's hope that keeps people where they are - even if they haven't made any money. It's just the next technique they need to learn and as long as they are continuously learning some new strategy they feel busy, productive and they are moving forward.

Their inspiration is the "big" guys who have built massive lists and can, with good copywriting skills, sell anything to anyone. So everyone aspires to get "there" and they are left, in the dust, unable to afford the secret million dollar training that will allow them to actually achieve the same results.

We agreed, this friend and I, that someone needed to speak the truth, that someone needed to hear the truth before they spent the same amount of time digging that same ditch we did.

He elected me. He tells me I am bluntly honest, am a strong advocate of integrity, honesty and authenticity and more importantly I've walked that path and never will again.

So I am telling you, I got mad and did something about it.

What are you doing?

My story is very similar to what you describe here:

"A friend of mine told me today it's hope that keeps people where they are - even if they haven't made any money. It's just the next technique they need to learn and as long as they are continuously learning some new strategy they feel busy, productive and they are moving forward.

Their inspiration is the "big" guys who have built massive lists and can, with good copywriting skills, sell anything to anyone. So everyone aspires to get "there" and they are left, in the dust, unable to afford the secret million dollar training that will allow them to actually achieve the same results."

Only two differences: I was tangled up with a "big" girl not boy and I had already experienced success in network marketing.

The ONLY secret I learned (often times referred to as "the code") is that...

THERE IS NO SECRET! Just an illusion created by SLICK WORDSMITHS.

Anyway...

I got mad  back in August 2011 when I realized the "big" girl I had been working with for over 2 years was using me (actually a group of us) to help build her list.

It was disguised it as a collective group effort to start a community that was supposed to be "safe" for other networkers to come and learn.

Long story short the "big" girl ran off with our "collective" list and used it to her benefit by creating an "illusion" that she had been a successful network marketer all along (so far from the truth).

Once I realized what had happened, I disconnected immediately from the "big" girl and took a couple months "off" to regroup. Plus I had to recover from the thousands I lost to this "big" girl. (only thing that helped me keep my sanity and feel "normal" was that I wasn't the only one this had happened to. I'm just the only one, who like you, has the balls to say anything about it in public. ;) )

I made the decision that I wasn't going to let the "big" girl predict my future as she so cleverly tried to do by implying that the "only" way for me to become REALLY successful was to get the "code" from her and that I would need to stand on her stage.

I feel so sorry for the people who are still disillusioned by this train wreck.

Anyway...

To finally answer your question...

What I did was, channel my anger for the good. :D

I joined a network marketing company and went on to be a Top Sponsor a couple months later.

Since then, I have been a very consistent sponsor in not one but all three of my businesses.

I've been invited to speak on training calls hosted by REAL master marketers...

I've been asked to host training webinars by another group...

And I have received hundreds of emails "thanking" me for standing up for what is right and speaking the truth.

And one last thing before I finally end this book...

What I know to be true Joyce, because it's already happening for me, is that as you and I continue to share our "story" outloud...

The "others" whose HOPE is running out because they are now confused, losing money, and feeling frustrated because they are seeing no fruits for their labor...

They will seek our guidance and knowledge because even though we went through some bullsh*t we are now achieving success because we finally got mad and stood up for ourselves, instead of falling for an "illusion" of the SECRET CODE that doesn't exist!

In SISTERHOOD!

I got mad a long time ago.
When I first got into the health industry, I told everybody. Nobody listened. Nor did I listen to myself on what I was selling.
I went back and did my research on what would satisfy me. Improve my health to my doctor's approvals.
I found something that improved my health and turned my life around to a better diet and redirecting my life and goals.
I still tell the ones who listens whether they do anything about themselves or not. I give the facts and show the results that they can have as well.
I don't get mad any more. I am truly satisfied. I didn't get into this to make a lot of money. The real 'why' is to let others know how they can be healthier. The decision is up to them on how I can help them.

I got mad, but at myself.
I couldn't understand why, after being successful at the
other things I've done, I couldn't seem to get this network
marketing thing right.

Then I realized what I was doing.

I was learning every new thing that came along.
I've got a couple dozen courses, been to events,
you name it and I've done it.

The fact is that I wasn't talking to enough people.
How can anyone become a member of your team if
you're not talking to people about it?

You may know all kinds of ways to generate leads.
So what.

A name on your email list is practically useless.
Sending someone an email (especially an automated one)
is not the same thing as talking to them.

Once I picked up the phone and started talking to people,
I started making sales.

The key is to have more quality conversations every day.

Forget about everything you're doing that doesn't lead directly
to a conversation with someone on the phone.

Sooner or later, you've got to talk to people.
The sooner you talk to them, the sooner you'll make some money.

How long do you wanna wait?

Right On Dave ! That is the very crux of network marketing - talking to people ! The higher qualified people the better but either way - you got to talk !!

Really? Does that mean the things I'm doing that do not lead to a conversation I need to drop?

Also, I'm not mad. Was ripped off one time by my up-line. This was about 4 years ago but I'm not mad, never was. Like most who loose money online I was looking for the easy way out. So nothing to be mad about.

BINGO DAVE!!!

I couldn't have said that better myself.

And for the record, I got mad  at myself too for leaving what I knew (CONVERSATIONS WITH REAL PEOPLE) that brought me success in the first place.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but the best part about the whole FIASCO I went through is that...

It's allowed me to help others who have unfortunately gone through the same thing. :D

There is really nothing to be mad about. It's just sad that many people do not listen for their own benefit until it's too late.
One author expressed that he got frustrated with the health industry. People did not listen to their own doctors.
There is nothing to be mad about but to try to understand people dealing with their own issues and a way to help them through their crisis. Many people have listened. For those it is a start in the right direction. For others, we can only hope for them the best.

Your post really struck a chord with me, Mario.

Rather than attempt to relate my thoughts to you,
I'd like to suggest a book that I'm reading. It's
helping me understand the ideas that you're
talking about in your post.

The book is called
"The Fifth Agreement"
Don Miguel Ruiz
Don Jose Ruiz

I highly recommend this book for greater
understanding of why people see the world
the way they do and consequently do the things
they do. Including yourself.
