Are You Mapped for Local Business?

Postby Luanne Crawford on Tue Apr 24, 2012 12:12 pm

Are you mapped in local search engines for your primary business? How about your downline? I had to take a nonconventional approach to attracting distributors to my primary business because I did not resonate with what my upline was doing... By mapping my own downline through my blog, after they sign up online, people join them, often without even meeting them first. If you have a sought after product, starting locally can have a ripple effect for you and for your downline.

Yep Luanne, most miss the local Search Engine marketing boat, but that's what I specialize in and it does work, but to work effectively isn't necessarily super inexpensive, but it's pretty inexpensive considering a lot of traditional advertising methods. So starting with Google Places and then from there is a good start.

When I do Local Search Engine Marketing for clients, I go for complete domination of the space, and there is a lot involved with it, but anybody can do it once done right, but most don't have the savvy to do it right and end up wasting a lot of time and money or one or the other and still don't get the desired results.

Because after all, you are not going to get the search numbers from local as you would nationally, and to most it doesn't seem to be worth their time, but they are making a big mistake thinking this way, because any lead can turn into a great prospect and be your next star in your group and was that worth it? Dumb question right? Right.

So with that, hope this helped a little? Good Day!

Luanne,

What do you mean by "mapping my own downline through my blog".

Could you explain?

I thought at first you meant Google Places listings, but . . .

Google Placemarks plugin allows you to create a Placemarks page and has a space to input an address.

I do have a few things listed in Google Place Pages, Yahoo and Bing local, but definitely need to add more to keep myself appearing at the top of the local searches, especially when done by mobile search in a local area.

I often get calls to do things I do not really do or sell things I might not sell because of the keywords I used to get me towards the top in my local area like Painting and Lacrosse for starters.

On the long list of things to keep working on!

On the Placemarks page, use the keywords your customers would use when searching for your products, and use the city location as a keyword (and in the title, eg "Avon Anytown"). The Placemarks page can remain a hidden page in Wordpress, or you can attach it to a "City" page with a 301 redirect pointing back to the Placemarks page. Platinum SEO plugin gives you a place for 301 redirect urls. Then hook the city page under a tab for "Distributors.". As your team grows, stack your cities!

Thanks Luanne.

yes Google Places listing is a great asset. I have never used the plug-in. It is pretty easy to do directly. I try to keep plug-ins to a minimum.

I am happy your listing is getting business for you and your team.
