So are you saying just by putting in a different email address, like 20 different ones at say yahoo would fix the ghosting problem Justin?

Isn't most of this info out-dated now?

I was so excited when I first read about advertising on Craig's List. I even got all my ads written each being 20% different then the others. I started to post and found out things have changed a little at CL.

The first thing I noticed is that Craig's List makes you set up an account to post in certain sections and Small Biz is one of the section you have to have an account to post in. They also make you obtain a verifcation code via phone - one phone line per account (from what I understand they capture your phone number when you call for your verifacation code). The one huge thing that kills the deal on making free multiple posts is they only allow you to post 3 adds per week per account. I'm totaly new to this but I have done a little testing with completely different adds so it's not the 20% thing. Anyone else having this problem?

Looks like most of this conversation took place 6 months ago. I'll just say what I know - the 20% rule is not the case - I've changed my wording completely but had the same url and it was rejected. Also you can post multiple ads as long as they are completely different. I think a posting service is the way to go - which does cost money but is probably worth the headache.

CL Posting
For every 4-5 posts you need to change these things.
1. IP address there is no software to do this.
option 1 a certain type of wireless card that changes ip address every time in connects to Internet
option 2 a certain type of router DSL only , will change IP address when you disconect and reconect to internet
option 3 a dail up service thats let you connect from diff. locations
2. a new email address this is a easy one use gmail get as many as you want
3. Your ad Headline change it up.
Option 1 you can put a random Number at the end of the headline
Option 2 just write several headlines
4. The URL Link you put in the Body
Option 1 Use Sub-Domains
Option 2 Put Tracking link on the end of url
Option 3 Direct it to a Blog
5. The Content of the Ad most not contain certain words or it will be flagged
Option 1 You can post a picture, so create the ad you want and save it as a jpeg and upload it as a picture the Spider cant read a picture.

I do not use CL because of all this. If you want to get the Router or wirless card, then a program to autopost for taking in account all the rules you will spend about $300-$400

If there are People that do use a system, is it generating enough to pay for itself? Feed back would be great.
Please dont try and sell your system just a honest answer to the question. Thank You

There is an article right here on BN that addresses some of the problems that you guys are talking about.

What about the phone number? They take your phone number now and you can only have one acount per phone number...I think this is the biggest thing that kills CL for most people now. With the 3 max posts per acount per week you're not going to post a lot without paying for it.

edit: Thanks Vascabruta...that post has a lot of info.

Guys,

I've been posting on craigs list for a while and I what I do is create an image of my ads. So now I'm not having to type all of the ads over an over or change content. So I create an image with the content that I want on it, and post it to different cities and just change the title of the ad and your done. I'm successful every time. Try it and let me know if it works for you guys.

I've been pulling leads from Craigslist for months now. But that's all about to change...

I just got an email this morning from one the automated software creators... and apparently CL is suing all of the software developers. They're closing their doors, so the software will only work for a limited amount of time... grrrrr

Ah well... time to go elsewhere!

Every Intel-based Mac can run Windows natively, either using Boot Camp, or as a program running in OS X. Virtual Box is free and can run Windows programs in a window inside of OS X. In other words, you can have two operating systems going at the same time on the same machine. Run your program and it will act the same as if it was on a standard PC.

CL has gone a little crazy. Yes, Building On A Budget by Mike Dillard has good resources listed for steering around the pitfalls... but you might want to try BackPage or Oodle instead. The traffic is not quite as good but it certainly is a lot less complicated.

If you don't mind spending money on ads, try off-line ads in daily and weekly newspapers. Advertising syndicators like Access To Media and others offer "bundles" with HUGE circulation for very reasonable pricing.

To the top!
