Cutting my expenses and coming back fresh

Postby on Sun Dec 16, 2007 4:28 am

Ok, here's what I've decided from reviewing some of my financials...

I need to fire myself!

And I need to lay off most of my business structure.

Here's why, they aren't making me money, and I'm not making myself money.

The one thing I did that made me money is using a server to send out tons of emails to opt-in subscribers (co-reg and non co-reg) but that was so problematic and expensive, that I don't want to go back to that.

So I'm dropping some various subscriptions that I don't actually use, and I'm coming back fresh. I've learned a lot, but it's just been hard to focus.

Has anyone else been in this situation? The only things I plan to keep are my google advertising, my main mlm, and my LeadersClub which I have some subscribers there. Everything else, I'm kicking out the door  because I'm stinking mad!

Hey Robert!

Don't get discouraged.

I can tell you from being in several traditional businesses, that 90% of what you do will be a waste of time.

Here is the good news....the other 10% can make you wealthy!

You are doing the right thing. I look at everything quarterly.

More good news.. this forum that you are on is affiliated with Mike and Mag Sponsoring.

It has so far been on of the best sources of good people for me that I have ever had.

Live your Dream!

Robert,

You crack me up.

You sound like me about a year back. I was paying for 800#s, leads from different sources, paying for multiple subscriptions for on-line marketing stuff, auto-shipped tools for my company, product, and multiple other things.

Then I took a step back and said "What the heck am I doing" Look at all this stuff i'm paying for, 1/2 of it I don't even have time to read or watch it. Then I realized it's got to stop.

Now I only pay for things that will propel my business forward. I'm still a subscriber to "Dan Kennedy" because if you're in Multi-Level Marketing, the key word is "MARKETING".

Most of the community clubs i'm into are free so I can "network" with other people.

And the community sites i'm on are free too.

Stop the madness.

Just like you said, only pay for stuff that will help you grow your MLM, everything else can wait.

Happy Prospecting,

Robert,

Good for you! Figure out what works for you and do it.

The bottom line is that the 80/20 rule works. Especially in this business.

And if you are not enjoying what you are doing, you will never make any progress.

I struggle with this quite a bit as well.

Take care,

Mark

Yes I'll admit I was there.

I always have someone who's been there and done that to talk to about things like this. I was just told very recently to figure out what I'm earning with - and for the rest, drop it like a hot cake for now. Don't even spend another second on things that aren't making you money.

You've mentioned a few things that probably cost you some money - especially PPC (depending if you pause it or not during your month - which might be something to consider to effectively cut some cost without dropping it).

With LeadersClub (I was a member there for about a year and learned quit a bit) and if you're only spending 50 bucks (not purchasing their leads  ) and still getting something out of it for education purpose, I don't see the harm in keeping that.

With your MLM - I guess is depends on how many are under you producing you residuals to keep you afloat there too. - Quick Edit here - not that you should rely 100% on what your downline is "making" you per say, but just evaluate how much your making each month. Plus are you paying something each month to keep that up? Does it even out or no? Is there anything here you can do to boost your prospects and turn them into downline members with NO cost - get creative.

Map it out and get your calculator handy. Figure out how much you put out a month and what your ROI is. If it's below what you're spending with what you've chose to keep, you might have to step back and reevaluate that too.

No matter what - keep up your education and set a budget aside for that. Nobody will ever be able to take away the value of what you learn. So any money and time you spend in further education isn't a waste in my opinion.

But sometimes we need to cut and step back in order to start out fresh again. You're on the right path - just stay focused and go one step at a time. Like I was told - "master" one thing at a time - earn from it and then buy more into your education.

Slow process? Maybe so, but well worth it in the end.

It's ok to slow down! B)

Hey Lisa,

Thanks a lot for the info and questions! Yes, I don't mind at all saying my first year has been tough. I had 2 months when I broke even, but that was due to timing and bonuses. My mlm pays out great bonuses, it just takes a little work to earn them. Totally worth it though!

Yeah so anyways, my PPC is going really good. My 18th prospect purchased Magnetic Sponsoring, so 1/18 is 6 or 7 times better odds than what I'm used to. I spent $28 in ppc to make $20, but of course there are several prospects that are still getting Mike's emails. Even at that, I'm statistically better than before, of course there is obviously room for improvement :)

What I love about Magnetic Sponsoring is for a 1 time purchase about $40 you get access to these forums, you can be an affiliate/make money with it, and there is (currently) nothing else you haveto buy in order to still be a part of the action. Probably the best of all is the information in the book. So this is something I'm happy to market and promote.

I've got a lot to learn, but I'm on the right track I'm sure, and my head is above the water.

thanks everyone else, Mark, William, Tim! There have been times when the only reason I've stayed on with leaders club (besides my commission $$) was the forums. And this forum doesn't cost a thing, which is great!

hey my friend.. I'm glad that you're in the trenches like you are.... you know that there's people like you that succeed in this industry... well one is because they're sick and tired of being lied to and also they tend to reach a snapping point that theres a better way to go about things..... if it doesn't work why keep trying to make it work.... do some adjustments and follow through with your work... but the only to fail is when you give up and go back to a j.o.b....

just
over
barely

Just
over
broke...

nothings is wrong with a job...... i work myself.. but i'm doing homework before i join my next venture.... why because educating yourself on the industry, and learning people will gett you further then what you ever think possible..... i don't want to preach to you just wanted to shed some light on you man..

don't give up and make some adjustments...

take care man...

Hey robert i know how you feel. I stopped everything too and am now just bascially getting an education. this community is great for that and I am even investing in myself with various products that I have been exposed to in this community. that way when I come back, I come back better, stronger than before.

I think there should be a MLM university. sorta like mcdonald's Hamburger U, or waffle house's training campus. Actually I think this community is it!!!! I think definitely that Mike has set this community up just for that. So I thank Him and every member for helping me help myself.
