Personally...

..for most it's a belief system..

I never busted my chops promoting a company directly..Here's what I'm saying..

We can use a tool or 2 or 3..etc. to promote our primary business earning money
before we get there..

We can multiply our money or stack our income while still promoting our primary
business..

Design a plan, a system, some good copy and write a report of how our plan works
starting selling a $5. ebook, or whatever is chosen..This has to come from the same
page to continue on the pass to our primary business..

It gotta give the impression for example that if they don't join our autoresponder
that pays monthly residual income along with email series the next person will
and he will stay out..Other tools can be added or make the primary business next
giving the impression that a downline is building up and it is..

This system can be made more or better way to make it more tempting..

Personally, I don't think many copywriters know that much about network marketing
and I mean real good stuff..I wrote my report about network marketing mostly
comparing it to a franchsie but without cost..better than retail and why etc..

Another system to pass around or mail it if money was available being cheap and all
back then..big hit, no mention of any mlm company..just a way to earn some good
part time income by just buying products per month that we normally buy at the
store but without the quality..Buying is selling..

Get a mindset of a way to stack your income or multiply it like compounding
interest in our savings..A lot different than multiple streams of income..

Look at a franchise and see it as stacking income promoting the same business..
and of course they stack even more their income by adding more to their menu..

I focus on one opportunity my main company that in its self keeps me busy.
However I do include the blogging, the forums and the better net worker.
This community is awesome for people to learn and meet people .
The company I am involved with also has incorporated another revenue stream for us that gives us two income streams.

Hi Laura,

Mark Wieser's response is the wisest one I have seen...and what he has said I have been thinking for a long time over the past year. I have come to the conclusion that it is very challenging to promote more than one opportunity, specially if you have a job.

Of course, promoting systems like BOB, MS, BBR, and being an affiliate for tools and services like autoresponders, video and audio and peripherals is fine and can result in nice commissions that will fund your advertising for the company you are building.

I have been involved in other things...but I have always made sure that have a passive aspect (put money in without hardly any time to manage them after initial setup) to allow me 100% time to build my company and to give people another option should they fit the passive aspect mold.

And of course, I normally don't promote directly what I do...promote me through my self-branding site that is part of my every day life (story, hobbies, fun things, valuable information). When someone is ready they can ask or know where to go to find out how to partner with me.

Hope this helps...

I've joined a lot of companies since I'm a nutritional consultant. One covers my clients basic needs but there are simply some things that are beneficial that our company doesn't currently have so I will offer other products when needed like an energizing water filtration system. I don't advertise it nor keep a website but if a person is drinking chlorine and trying to be healthy it's a no-brainer for me to make a quick $100 and order them a good system. Basic foundation of health. I don't offer the business opportunity for these other businesses except to let people know they can buy at wholesale but I don't always do that either since most of the companies are not very good for pay plans or are simply to difficult for a newbie to make money with. Most of my businesses produce money in small quantities and provide me with free products. The one I build pays my bills though.

I don't think it's possible to give more than one company and downline proper attention but sometimes different opportunities can compliment each other but it's important to focus on just one thing at a time.

Any financial expert will tell you its not smart to have all your eggs in one basket. We need multiple streams of income. If you have a product that stems from a south sea island and that's the only place it grows you've got to think about what happens when a volcano or hurricane flattens the place. There goes all your work! Better to have a back up plan too.

Hi Laura,

Using all of the magnetic sponsoring and other "systems" based training that is available, incorporated with the speed of implementation and ease of entry into a given market utilizing the internet actually makes it quite easy to actively promote 3,4,5+ business "opportunities" simultaneously.

I have been taught to promote more than one business. You see if you are already involved or using more than one business you might as well take advantage of it. Now I see it is harder than I thought. Someday when I get more organized and have more time I will. Right now I am focused on promoting my main site with a passion.
There are times when you just naturally promote your other stuff you have going on. The trick is to do what you know will be the most effective. The #1 goal is to create leads for your business. When you have a hundred opt-ins a day you will be able to do what you want. You will have the money to do what and when you want.
If you feel comfortable enough to work more than one site I would say go for it. I myself need to be more disciplined and have a better understanding of what my daily regiment should be.

You understand that you never try to do two business that are competitive to each other. Meaning if you offer one person a product and say oh this is the best thing out there and they are not interested. You can not go and say well I have this product that is just as good. It just won't work.

No.

Because it would cause me to lose my focus and
get NO results for anytime i spent doing anything.

I tried promoting 2 systesm at once, and that was
a pain in the ass. Now I focus completely on the
one I like the most.

Considered joining a second business, but kept getting
this nagging feeling that it would be a very silly move
to make.

the goal should be to become wildly successful in ONE
business before you move on and consider a 2nd or third
opportunity.

If you can't get the first legitamate business to work,
what makes one think success suddenly comes because
they spent more money going into a second?
