We have a wealth of events to attend these days between the webinars that are going on constantly and the live events.


Now its no longer how to find out what to do, its now how do I choose and how do I apply.

The biggest thing I have realized lately is we do not have to be a student of every method. Every person now who is a success got there because he/she got really good at just one or two strategies.

Ray Higdon talked recently about don't just be a consumer in the webinar or products you decide to take into your channel.

1 - Come with the intent to not only listen, but find just a few key points that can be added on to what you are already doing

2 - Once you have attended, use what you learned as content. This is key, I use it a lot. I learn a lot even from forum topics, and I can write about them in my own words.

3 - Apply in your own marketing and share your results in future posts on blogs or videos

Don't you feel sometimes that just learning it isn't enough but that you have to apply it, monitor the results and THEN write about it?

I agree with you, you can learn a lot from forum topics, webinars etc. but to reword that knowledge into my own words portrays knowledge but without the physical knowledge of application, which is different.

My chemisty teacher taught me that many moons ago. I researched, wrote up and reported on an experiment but I had cheated and actually hadn't done the experiment. He could tell right away my report didn't match with the results of actually doing the experiment with the combination of chemicals I had supposedly used.

Learning, rewording didn't equate to the correct physical results and I got caught cheating.

Big lesson to learn for the hot shot teenager (me) who thought I could pull a fast one on a (stupid) teacher !

Very true Lynda. There are so many webinars and training products out there that its easy to spend all week learning without actually doing anything productive.

Absolutely you have to take a part of something that fits you and put it into your own routine.

To quote Ray Higdon: Take a piece and lay it on top of what you are already doing.

And another caution you can't do all of the things you see and hear about in a live event. There were 14 speakers all of which had awesome things they taught. It would be totally impossible to apply all of it.

What you have to go for is what you feel most fits with you and with what you are already doing. and again layer it on, don't throw out the baby with the bath water. If you already have successful systems, and money streams they must continue.

I feel there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. What I feel the difference is that knowledge is gained by going to school learning from what we read. Wisdom I feel is gained by actually doing what we have read and learned. Many people are willing to gain so much knowledge but few are willing to go through the hard times of gaining wisdom by doing.

Jared you just said something HUGE here! Most don't get that it is also about wisdom, and applying. It is far better to get a little bit of knowledge and learn to apply it effectively than it is to get a whole lot of knowledge (the big degree) but there is no application.

Exactly Jared. That's why I don't recommend writing about something you've learned but have not implemented (or if you do be very upfront and honest that you've learned it but you have no idea if it works).

That's why guys like Lukas (in the forum) write about fakes and dishonesty in MLM. Too many are spinning the truth of building teams that have nothing to do with building their MLMs.

Yea David, its important to actually be picky about what training you are going to spend time on. We get kind of seduced by great marketing for webinars and training often that are not even going to apply to what we are doing.

So be selective, go for the trainers that will be better for you and your niche. Better to choose one a week, and give yourself the whole rest of the week to apply what you have learned (webinar) than to do one or two a day, and have no application.

Joyce hit on something I want to expand upon.

Its very important not to just write about things whether its from events or just something you have read, without any personal knowledge, unless you are being honest that you have not done it yourself.

The way to really hone our own skills and share from the heart is to pick just a few things that are related to the kind of marketing we would like to do. Go to events that feature those skills that we want to learn about. Not only attend, but come back and really dig in and use what you have learned, give it a very thorough test. Then, you can come from a place of confidence that you have used that technique or skill to a point that you have achieved a degree of success.

It is not that you have to be earning the huge dollars yet. But say you have never generated a lead online. So you go to an event and you learn about solo ads. You come back home, and you start using what you have learned. And maybe it takes you a couple of months before you get it all ironed out. Now you can say you have used the skill, you are still learning and perfecting, this is what you learned to do and here are my results-- if you didn't produce leads before and now you are even if its only 2 leads a day, there are many that want to learn about that.

I hate those hypy claims about the big inflated numbers, but if you say I can create 2-5 leads on Facebook every day (and that isn't hard) I learned it from (this training) and I applied it, and here is my results then you are being totally authentic.

I am not going to write an article about PPC because I have not done it, and so therefore I am not going to give people the right steps to take, but on the other hand if I know of someone who has, such as Michelle Pescosolido, then I can say she has mastered it, I watched her talk about it on the No Excuses stage, I have not personally done it, but I know she has.
