Breaking News: iLearningGlobal turns it's back on it's distributors
I just got a call from one of my good friends and team mates Dave Strayer alerting me to the situation.
Apparently in the last 24 hours one the of the worlds premier personal development network marketing opportunities iLearningGlobal made the decision to change their compensation plan from a network marketing compensation structure to a pure sales commission scenario.
I wasn't surprised. For a long time I felt like the writing was on the wall. Traditionally personal development network marketing opportunities have a life cycle of rapid growth, a change in compensation structure, and then finally either closure or the complete removal of a referral compensation structure all together.
I've had this scenario play out in my own history twice.
The first time was about 5 years ago in a company called the "Financial Freedom Society", first with the removal of the network marketing compensation structure, and then the complete removal of any compensation, and finally the closure of the business itself.
The second time was in my a company I had grown a team of 8,357 people and was receiving strong residuals. In fact, the iLearningGlobal situation is completely analogous in that both Success University and iLearningGlobal were both personal development based companies.
Out of the blue Success University decided to merge with a company called WorldVentures and with that change came the complete dissolution of my personal downline.
These situations are completely unfortunate. I wouldn't wish the Tsunami of emotions that goes through the distributor's mind on anyone.
For me, first I was totally confused. Second I didn't believe it. Third, I continued to believe the company line that "it would all work out."
Finally when the checks stopped coming and my 3 years plus of hard work to build that large team vanished before my eyes and I realized that all the company "propaganda" about how important we distributors are was only secondarily true.
It's "their" (the company and company head's) survival first and foremost that's most important. This angered me to all ends and galvanized my resolve and message that . . .
All network marketers and home business entrepreneurs MUST protect their financial livelihood first because no one else is going to do it for us. That's why I created "Maximum Leverage" to teach how to create others like me how to never have to know the horror of where you next paycheck is coming from despite what "our" companies may do.
Creating personal leverage supersedes all other objectives in your or my business.
To those like my friend, David Wood, who were largely effected by this sudden decision my hart goes out to you. It's not your fault. You're a success regardless of what any company does. Never second guess yourself. This change is ONLY a sign for you of greater things to come. I will support you forever.
If you'd like to talk about today's events personally, please feel free to send me a message on FaceBook. I'll make time.
Never put all your eggs in one basket. Work with good people. Study the history of our industry, and join a company with a history and track record of success.
You're never alone and don't think you are.
To the top,
Daegan

This really is a shame and just goes to prove how important it is to build YOUR brand.
My heart goes out to anyone here that is affected by this. But I know the caliber of people that congregate here at BN and I know that you won't let this affect you for very long.
You'll be out there knocking it out of the park again very soon!

Thanks for sharing Deagan. Things like this just suck. I have lots of friends at ILG...had I guess. I cut my teeth in one of the first top-tier direct sales programs in the 90's which was in personal development and I have spent a decade and a half as a coach and trainer in personal development.
But when anyone approaches me with a PD based MLM...well, no thanks. It happened with TPN, then with MasteryTV, which is still online but no distributors (which is essentially ILG for free), now ILearningGlobal. I JUST had this conversation with someone the other day.
I totally agree with you. Personal development is such a key component to network marketing, but doesn't stand up well on it's own as a core product. They hit fast, plateau, then go away.
It's not a happy St. Patrick's Day for the distributors of ILG.

This happens all the time! I am with you People need the Education It is in your P and P's that show what the company is capable of. Plus knowing who the owners are is a huge clue. One company Terminated 21 of there top distributors because they could. Got the stocks up sold them and then started another company. Would he do that again? Well probably. I am passionate about Educating people about Network Marketing and what to look out for
Pillar 1: Does the company management have personal experience building their own networking organization? Have they done it with Integrity?
• Search Google for the owners of the company.
• Do the owners have Integrity? Add the word 'Scam' to your search.
• Do the owners have a Corporate background or an in-the-field Network Marketing background?
• Read your "Policies & Procedures" and "Terms & Conditions";
both are part of your Legal Contract.
• Look for the word "Ongoing".
• Look for policies that strike you as "Unreasonable". Like "Termination, with or without cause".
• Ask yourself "Does this contract protect me or the company?" "Is it clear which way it leans?"
• Does the company charge you for training or a company web site?
• Does the company charge you for each paycheck they send you?
• Rules of Thumb:
• The longer the contract, the greater the possibility that the policies important to you
are being hidden in "Legalese"!
• If it's a "Cash Only" business...It's a Scam!
• If you can buy a position at the top...It's a Scam!
• If you are offered a "Special Deal"...the playing field isn't level for all.
• If the products are sold on eBay at a greatly reduced price...Buy there instead.
• If a company is publicly traded, Financial Decisions Will be made in Favor of the
Stockholders at the Expense of the Distributors.
• Check these two websites: www.MLMwatchdog.com and www.MarketWaveInc.com.

Keith,
You're right. Same thing happened with Success University (PD based) for me. Three years of rapid growth. Then some slow down and a merger. I love Matt Morris to this day for changing my life, but that move was a huge wake up call to me.

What a shame...I was going full steam and just ordered my post cards to be mailed to contacts about this great product and opportunity. I will see if they will allow me to cancel it.

Re: iLearningGlobal turns it's back on it's distributors
This is truly a sad day for all of us (Ex iLearningGlobal Distributors)
I would have liked to shed some more light on the situation but even being in a top position with close contact to team leaders and corporate management there is not much more I can share then that which is on the iLearningGlobal Marketer hub - Full story here: http://marketer.ilearningglobal.tv/?page_id=1349
All that we can do from this moment on is to look forward and find a new business opportunity to pursue. I wish all the other iLearningGlobal distributors well and I know that this is not an easy situation, many of us are losing commission checks that we have worked hard to earn.
Now one VERY IMPORTANT thing: Let's not be discouraged about this!
The future is bright and opportunity awaits, albeit not in iLearningGlobal

IMHO
MLMs with a consumable product are best. I wouldn't even consider one that didn't have one. Not saying others can't work, but I personally wouldn't mess with them.
