Not, why do people fail? But, why do people succeed?

Postby Matthew Zinda on Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:32 pm

Linda Husser recently posted a very interesting thread titled, "Why is the failure rate so pervasive in network marketing?"

There were over 40 very intelligent responses to this thread. I think it is important to get yourself, and your associates, to avoid the reasons people fail at marketing in general. But, I got to thinking, why not concentrate more on what is working, as opposed to what is not working?

I get 1 answer every time someone, I would consider successful, gives advice; provide value.

In every aspect of every business, online or offline, the main founding business principle that is responsible for every marketers success is to provide value.

People do not go to your website, blog, meeting, seminar, webinar, conference call, etc., because you, as a marketer, might benefit from them being there. They engage in these activities because they, as a visitor, customer, affiliate, downline, etc., might benefit from being there. If the visitor does not benefit in the way they expected, they will go elsewhere. It's just the way it is. So, why not make sure it is an absolute no-brainer for your visitor to benefit in the way they expected, with absolutely no regard for what is in it for you, as a marketer?

Not only is it necessary to provide value upon meeting a visitor, it is vital to the life of your business to continue to provide value in every aspect, and every stage of your business. From the first visit to your website, blog, etc., to long after your visitor has already bought your product and/or service, and at all times in between.

There was a reply in the above mentioned thread that said something to the effect that the very small percentage of marketers who succeed promote their products and/or services as though they have nothing to gain from a person buying that particular product or service. So true. If, while marketing your product and/or service, you are thinking about how it will benefit you, as a marketer, if someone buys your products and/or services, it is very very unlikely that you will succeed. Promote your products and/or services with one thought in mind; how will this product and/or service benefit other people? Perhaps in the same way it has benefited you, as a consumer of that particular product and/or service yourself.

Also, there was a response in the above mentioned thread that said how important it was to learn the necessary skills it takes to succeed in your business. If someone asked me to fix an airplane, I would look at them like a deer in headlights. I would have to learn a whole lot of new skills in order to be able to fix an airplane on my own, or even help someone else fix an airplane.

Many people take the time and effort to learn these new skills, however learning these new skills will do you absolutely no good, unless you actually take action, and implement these skills into your own business. Practice what you have learned. Otherwise, all of the time, money, and effort you put into starting your own business will be for not.

I hope this post made a light bulb come on for atleast one person. If that is the case, it was well worth writing.

Good luck.

Matthew, you have raised some interesting points.

Success is relative to each & every individual. The hobo, down & out on the street, will consider himself having succeeded if he gets a meal in any given day! Bill Gates will have an entirely different answer if he were to be asked when he would consider himself a success.

Generally, I believe that people succeed in business endeavours when they acquire the necessary skills, apply those skills in the business & they are persistent & consistent in the application of those skills.

In short - they WORK hard!

Have an inspired day!

Nice of you to put a positive spin on this subject. 2 words: FOCUS and PEOPLE. Successful people focus on doing one thing at a time until they get good at it. Then they focus on helping PEOPLE to duplicate their efforts. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it?

Many people say they failed at network marketing it is not they failed it is that you dropped out. You did not fail at your diet you just stopped doing it.

It is only human nature most will not finish what they started.

Thank you for the replies.

Chris, it is very interesting that you brought that up. I just read a post on Clicknewz, a blog owned by Lynn Terry, who is a very successful internet marketer. I always go to her blog first thing in the morning, because she always delivers some great information, and valuable lessons, on each one of her posts.

This is a comment I made to one of Lynn's posts titled, "What's Holding You Back From Your Goals?":

Many people unknowingly find a great opportunity, and a great system, that WILL ultimately deliver success. They just quit B4 they become successful.

Some people quit before they even start. Some people start, but quit shortly thereafter. Some people start, and are headed in the right direction, but they quit before they see the results they are looking for. Some people start, head in the right direction, see results, but quit right on the verge of success.

I have done this myself, and quit at all 4 of these stages while pursuing different opportunities.

Successful people start, head in the right direction, see some results, keep going through the verge of success, then continue on through success.

My advice; pick an opportunity, and a system, that you have a passion for, one that you have witnessed other people succeed at, one that you truely believe in. Start, head the right direction, get some results, get to the verge of success, and continue right on through success.

Don’t quit. If you quit, you have wasted all of that time, money, and effort. Also, we are creatures of habit. Quitting is one habit you don’t want to develop. Otherwise, you will never be successful.

Good luck.

Most people are wired to quit before the pain becomes unbearable. This plays out in many areas of our lives. Those who quit in Network marketing are simply doing what we have done most of our lives. Avoid the pain.

Being successful in Network Marketing takes the ability to go through a certain level of frustration and pain along the way. We must re-program our old way of thinking which is to avoid the pain, but rather to endure for a little while longer until the pleasure arrives.

Thank you for giving the positive side to success rather than the negative spin of failure.

There are people in ALL programs making money.

There are top producers in all companies.

People that "SAY" they've failed - have.

Who cares the reason.

The reason (real reason) doesn't matter so long as
their MINDSET is already decided that they have failed...

They'll just argue to justify their decision.

What you argue for, you get to keep...

I agree...

People who succeed - NEVER CARED about why people "failed" (quit)...

People who succeed do NOT analyze and seek out the failures...

People who succeed will seek out the people who are SUCCEEDING!

Period.

In my second decade full time in this rodeo...

Even as a newbie -

I NEVER CARED ONE BIT why people failed...

I didn't come here to learn how people fail...

I came to succeed.

So I looked for reasons why people were succeeding.

Totally different mindset.

Mindset

is

EVERYTHING.

The main point is that people who succeed just keep their eye on the goal. Whenever things get slightly off mark they get back into focus again and again and again!!!!!
That's it !
They do not worry about what others are doing because they are focused completely on the target.
