Question for Internet MLMers

Postby Chris Brown on Mon Jun 04, 2012 10:11 am

Do you still go to event of your company? Most of us here use the internet to build our MLM but do you still go to the local events of your company.

Went I use the internet in conjunction with events I have a stronger team. It is like fitness videos if you go to a local with people who will support you then you have a greater chance of success.

This does not apply to all people but I have build my MLM with only the internet and the internet with events and I have seen greater success by numbers when you use local events in conjunction with the internet.

Share your though what has worked for you there is no right or wrong answer just what have worked for you

Yes, I like to combine both online and offline tactics in my business.
I do as much as I can to network physically out there for several reasons:

*I know many online marketing tactics that most people who specifically just market offline don't know about. I can add value to these people and teach them things that will benefit them.

*You gain friends, and life-long relationships. You also learn skills in communication and practice your people skills offline.

*Even though people in your own company don't join you, you can still provide them with valuable information from your blog, or even share with them some of the tools you use to build your business.

*I like being approached by people from other MLM companies. It's awesome. Instead of getting in the whole "my company's better than yours' argument, they end up using my tools and affiliate systems that help them build themselves in their own companies anyway.

*Company events are the best. You can tell others that you're crushing it online and your crosslines and even uplines will get curious on how you do it. Then you can share it with them and they will eventually use your tools and systems too, which helps them as much as they did you, but also you make even more money as well.

-There is an exception though, because there are companies that are strictly against the online way and say 'face to face' is more personal, etc. etc. To each his own. I do both. People go online to build relationships too. It's worked for me.

Anyway, so the answer is yes I do attend company events from time to time.
Always always remember, MLM is all about relationships. Building these relationships is all about adding value (in many ways than one). The more people you help out, online and offline, you will start to gather a following.
Sick of Attraction Marketing? Learn how to really make money online the simple way without all the BS and forget about that outdated Attraction Marketing.

The companies I'm affiliated with don't hold any company "functions," both being products of the Internet Age. I have been with companies in the past and I've attended some of their larger events. I'll be the first to admit that the entire "rock star" environment can be quite exhilerating and motivating - at least for a brief period of time. However, if you're looking to company functions as one of your primary sources of motivation, consider that to be a warning sign that something's amiss. True motivation must come from within, and shouldn't need any reinforcement from external sources (or at least very little - nobody's made of steel).

There's certainly nothing wrong with associating with other distributors and business owners - networking can be extremely productive as relationships develop beyond casual acknowledgements that you're in the same type of business, and often strategic alliances and teams are built, with a small group of distributors working in concert with each other, delegating tasks and responsibilities according to each team member's strength, while often also compensating for one team member's weakness in a particular area with another team member who has greater strength in that area, and vice-versa.

Plus, as has been mentioned already, working your business in the "offline" world will also help you to hone your "people skills." I make it a regular practice to engage people in a conversation while in the check-out line at the grocery store - not necessarily to advance my business in any way to them, but simply to practice talking to people. The more you talk to people, the easier it becomes to talk with them.

And if you think you can build a large business without talking to anyone, then you simply don't understand the "nature of the beast." The ability to communicate effectively with people who are vital to the success of your business is a critical skill that's absolutely essential if you're "in it for the long haul."

Like Michaelangelo, I offer services that marketers in all forms of online business need. I've done my due diligence on the company, and have spoken directly with its owners and principal officers, who answered all of my questions quickly and to my complete satisfaction. The services are competitively priced and feature-rich. Perhaps the most attractive aspect is that although the company is MLM, they provide their affiliates with replicated "retail" sales websites that make no mention of any money-making capability and instead promote the features and benefits of the actual services themselves!

I find that to be rather unique and refreshing, since just about every other online MLM's replicated sites are geared primarily towards recruiting affiliates/distributors, usually decorated with images of bundled Benjamins, sports cars with unpronouncable brand names, mansions, and of course the storybook couple strolling on a palm-tree-bordered beach with bright turquoise waves lapping upon it. The fundamental MLM business model is based on an individual distributor making a relatively small number of retail sales per month, actively recruiting other people into their business, and then teaching those people to do the exact same thing.

Just remember - sales are wherever you find them - online OR offline. If you're serious about your business, you won't let ANY opportunity to make a sale pass you by - if that opportunity can be taken advantage of without creating any problems or wedges in the relationship you're building with the person you're working with. It's a skill that's best developed through massive ACTION, not through studying an ebook or a forum post.

I definitely go to events along with my team. There's no stronger bond than to meet your team members in person, mastermind with them and them send them on a mission knowing they just solidified a relationship (which is what we're all about) and potential friendship in business. Plus they're a lot of fun!

The only downside of going to meetings and company events is the time it takes. These events are to help keep people in the business motivated.

Nope. I don't attend any functions anymore....I just log into my distributor base to check news and playback updates.

I have been to two company events that I was associated with at one time or another. One in 1996 and again in 2007.

My first was New Image International which the headquaters was in Kentucky as was my sponsor, so I flew to the national convention and also met my sponsor and Dale Calvert my mentor and the compnay trainer.

My second convention was in 2007 flew to Dallas, with my team memebrs, to an Ameriplan convention.

What I like about the events is that you get to met the company owners, the top leaders and you can also get to learn from some of the best in the company.

It let me know the compnay was real, when I finally got out from my home and mingled with others in the companies.

I also enjoythe weekly or monthly trainings we did in Pre Paid Legal, my sponsor was in LA and I was in the Midwest, so I kinda felt out of place at our local meetings. Although everyone was great toward me.

Last week David Wood and David Sharpe had their Empower Network convention in Atlanta. I saw photo's posted on FB. Everyone who attended looked like they had a really great time hanging out together.

Must admit, I was a little envious,!

In my opinion, going to events can bring a company, the distributors and teams closer together.

It can also build trust.

And it can show that there are real people in this thing, and build comradery.

Company events help people to stay motivated you adapt to the company culture but you don't want to go over board with them either because they can take a lot of time.

Mark Yarnell build a $300,000 per month income from home only working 2 hours a day on the phone and he did this from the start.

I do my internet stuff but in another 1 hour I will be on the phone for 5 hours cold calling small business and following up with my MLM leads.

There is a balance!
