Richard,
I know I kind of brushed over it but I would tell anyone that wants to really understand what you are getting at to go and get the audio book Attention that I mentioned in my 1st post to this thread. It has a ton of good information.

"Will it Blend" look that up on youtube... I showed my wife just one of the videos and the 1st thing she said was, "I would love to have one of those blenders... Stand out or you are just in the crowd...

Bye the way Richard, Your New picture looks great. It makes you stand out.

RichardBravo wrote:How does that translate to a marketing strategy?

Are you implementing specific things to incorporate that philosophy
into the promotion of your business?

What does that look like?

Basics of:

Internet Marketing:
a. You need a website on a domain of your own that you have full control over - not one of those crappy free websites that Google and Weebly promotes
b. You must have a non distracting landing page apart from your blog (one purpose only - to build your list)
c. good copywriting

Business:
a. Benefits Sell => focus on how your product/service solves the consumers needs/problems...
b. Trust/Relationship based selling: requires frequent contact => autoresponders
c. Target marketing - stop selling to everyone
d. Do the numbers - if you have multiple sales leads to follow up on, will you be concerned if a few say "No"?

you can do a ton of stuff to stand out from the crowd, but the average newbie has a hard enough time getting all these basics down solidly, and quit before they ever get these done.

there's simply too many distractions for a newbie, and every guru is offering a "solution" thats supposed to work now after the google slap and what not. imagine a noob hearing about content syndication, webinars, auto webinars, video salespages, social media marketing, posting stuff to youtube...

the distractions had me busy for quite a few of the 5 years i've been struggling to make a buck online until i realised that none of these things will ever help me before i get the basics down. so i feel very inclined so cuss at all the gurus for forever distracting me just so they can sell me something.

get the basics done - it'll take long enough i promise. and THEN you can go and try all the other shiny things the guru's tell you to do to stand out - NOT BEFORE.

Details, details, details... that's what I'm looking for Lynda.
A lot of people come to forums looking for specifics - lets give it to them.

From what you commented, exactly what does all of that look like?
What are some specific things you are doing to "go against the grain?"

Example: "Putting a Twist On Things"
What specifically do you do?
Can you share an example or explain (what/how/when/where) on a specific instance?

That's the meat and potatoes people are looking for.

Will definitely look up the book Marty.
And this is a GREAT example of standing out: http://www.youtube.com/user/blendtec

There's all sorts of merchants out there selling blenders.
But Blendtec has taken the process to the social media landscape by implementing the viral nature of comedy and leveraging the power of mixed media and video marketing to not only spread their message that they make awesome blenders, but that it's cool to own a Blendtec. And even if you don't, we'll entertain the heck out of you until you do buy one someday.

The campaign has a very Applesque appeal.
Stand out by building a community and a sense of cool around your product.
Great share Marty.

PS: thnx for the compliment.

Excellent point Marius.
So how can we minimize the impact of "one more thing" on the To Do list?
Is there a singular concept we can recommend that moves towards helping them stand out almost immediately or at least begin working towards that goal, that can be implemented simultaneously in the very early stages of getting started... Something that isn't overwhelming?

Richard...and you all...Hi!

Interesting question...You (Richard) asked :

"Is there a singular concept we can recommend that moves toward helping them stand out almost inmediately or at least begin working toward that goal, that can be implemented simultaneously in the very early stages of getting started...something that is not overwhelming"?

Well, since Mario must be sleeping and ready to start his Friday( he lives in a little place Pretoria)...if I may...I what to share with all of you...that do believe at least for me that today I have found a very good solution not only to promote affliates products...your own products and services...but to help your MLM downline to explode their own business...very friendly and very affordable for them just $9.50 a month.

Of course the investment for the leader of the team is more...200 set fee...and $97.00 a month...and is the best way to build your business...with 30% commission as an affiliate...a sales funnel and funded proposal right there...and is doing webinars...yeap word of mouth and social media.

The webinars will be ready to go 24/7...no problem for different times frames or busy shedule. To date it is doing lot better that other marketing systems out there.

If someone wants to know what it is...please send me a private message...and yes if you buy from my link I will do some profit. The reason I do not have it in my signature just yet is because I still need to send my w9.

Please be well all of you,

Roger Aburto

I think its my "Cut the crap and get the money" type of personality. I'm in business to make money to pay my bills, not to screw around and jerk off all day and a lot of folks can relate to me. In addition, I show people how to keep their business expenses down to maximize their profit and most importantly, show them how to close the sales transaction.

Right on Melvin, awesome overview.
Those are great marketing/branding points.

So if you were to put it in bullet points, can you share 3-5 key things
you do specifically to reinforce those philosophies?

example:
*Offer an ebook on increasing profits by trimming business expenses

Or something like that.
Anything that's a tangible, actionable item that correlates
to your business identity as you explained it and those core philosophies.
