I do believe that a warm market does have advantages. However, the overriding reason why people will purchase your services or join your business opportunity is if they fulfill a percieved need or want. It is the primary reason that friendship will not erase.
A warm market only give you an opportunity to present your service or opportunity. However, if they do not see a need or benefit, you are no different than the next sales man. It is that simple.

Re: Warm Market
I am a firm believer in the warm market. They know you and there is an established level of trust.
The flip side is you better bring them something good and not be angry if they don't immediately get on board. Something I have found to be very common with the NFL (No Friends Left) is they tend to jump from MLM to MLM to MLM. If you are going to introduce your warm market you have to be committed to last and make the business work. If you jump your friends and family will not be happy with you.
A personal litmus test to when you think about joining an opportunity is would you feel comfortable if your friends and family joined. If you don't think it is good enough for your warm market why would it be good enough for you to sell to strangers.

Very well put together. #1 people never join a business opportunity or a program because the websites were excellent. People join People. You have to like the person you are doing business to be successful. Very firm believer of a warm market.

Re: Warm Market
I do not approach people about my business, even in my my market (family, friends, acquaintances, etc.,). If they by chance know what i do, and specifically ask for more information, i give it to them. That's it. If they are hungry for more, then i would work with them.
I let my marketing take care of the recruiting. I think that's the only way to go because you only want to work with people that have raised there hand and come to YOU. Not the other way around. And when they do come to you, you must qualify them to make sure you are not waisitng your time.
Time is money and i refuse to waste my time trying to talk a prospect into joining my business. I create value with a potential client by explaining the process of how Internet Network Marketing works and how to play the game. Beyond that, it's there decision as to what to do with the info.

Re: Warm Market
Your "Warm Market" are the only people who you should be doing business with. "Warm" simply means they know, like and trust you. That's why the people in that group and like to be your family friends and acquaintances, co-workers... basically people who know you.
The point is to increase the size of that market through building relationships continuously. Expanding your warm market means you have more people who know as a human being, like as a friend and trust you as a safe and honest business person.
Very basic human psychology.
Even if the level of interest and conversion remains the same your numbers of customers and recruits increases naturally!

Re: Warm Market
The aspect of building relationships with PEOPLE is key!!
I think as MLM business owners as well with any business for that matter, in most cases it does not matter what you sale and mainly because if there's not there will be some day that another business will sale the same thing for less.
This implies that if your in BUSINESS your "product" is not your product, your "product" is PEOPLE!! Why should people keep coming to you to buy, or send you referrals. Instead of the guy down the street that just started a new website, or the business down the street that has the same product for $5 cheaper?
YOU HAVE BECOME THEIR COMFORT ZONE!!
They don't want to go anywhere else, because they are not comfortable with the other businesses.
But we have to create value in the marketplace not with product. If your focused on your product or recruiting people, YOU WILL FAIL!! You must give value in TRAINING before anyone buys anything, and this training needs to be something that can be used in everyday life not just for your company.
This gives LIFE VALUE, when was the last time you walked into WalMart to buy something and got LIFE VALUE out of your experience? It has not happened to me yet in all my life.
GIVE LIFE VALUE TO PEOPLE, WITHOUT YOUR BUSINESS IN SITE. AND YOUR WARM MARKET WILL BUY ANYTHING YOU SALE!!

Re: Warm Market
Malika,
The problem with that approach is that they may love and respect you more than life itself, but they may have ZERO interest in building a business. And if that's the case, they are of no use to me in terms of building my business.
And that's my point. My marketing (and marketing in general) is all about bringing in like minded people who are interested in what i have to offer. That has to be your target market, and that may not necessarily be your best friend/sister/gym partner. Anybody other than this targeted group and you are wasting your time.
Ofcourse it's ok if you want to ask them if they may be interested (i personally don't), but the job of your marketing is to target the people that have the same interest in your niche (in this case, Internet Network Marketing). The most success i have had is when i target people who are interested in my business and raise there hand and come to ME. I have never been successful going after people, friend or not.
Also, going after people requires a bit of salesmanship that, quite honestly, most people don't have (i know i don't). It's easier for the newbie with zero sales skills to build a business in MLM with the consultative, value approach (Attraction Marketing) as opposed to telling them to make a list of there family and friends. Just my two cents....

Re: Warm Market
I think the warm market can be an outlet but I don’t typically go to that route too often. I have brought on a few warm market leads but the product was something I truly believed the person could benefit from and they were truly interested in a business opportunity. I have had other friends that expressed some interest in a business of their own but I didn’t think they were really ready and I did not feel my product was a fit so I stayed away. I would use your discretion when deciding how to approach your warm market. The way I handle it is really on a case by case basis, if something comes up in which I feel my products/opportunity can benefit someone I share the information. If I feel it is not a fit or that if things don’t work out more damage then good may be done and I choose to not say anything. It isn’t just about how you feel about your opportunity/products but rather if your opportunity/product is a good fit for the person, if it is and your comfortable, then by all means go after that warm market.

Re: Warm Market
I don't chase after my warm market anymore. Chances are that few of those people have any interest in what I have to offer.
I prefer to attract people to me from my target market. By using attraction marketing methods, they contact me, they already know me, they have some trust in me, and probably have some interest in specifically what I have to offer.
The process doesn't end there. I must continue to build a relationship with that person. I do this through phone conversations and emails that provide value to the prospect. So I guess you could say that they eventually become my warm market.
But they are far more likely to buy from me or join my business at some point. As a result, they continue to be a customer or team member long term - unlike those who are in my "traditional" warm market.

Re: Warm Market
I think it's much better to use attraction marketing to produce prospects to you. I have found this to work much much better than going to the warm market most of the time those individuals have no interest in your business any way. Over time they will see your lifestyle changeing and then they will come to you and ask about what you do and what you have been doing to bring about these changes this is when they will be open to your business.
Who else is sick of "harassment" marketing?
