Which Mistake did Your Web Copy Make?

Postby Dr Eric Etka on Thu Dec 10, 2009 1:32 pm

Dont Ask a Stupid Question
Writing web copy for your sales letters, emails, squeeze pages, and capture forms IS NOT the same as regular offline copy. Your readers have to salivate and be psychologically maneuvered into doing exactly what you want them to do. Remember anything you've bought...you went through the process.

What Questions Should I Ask?
You're arent going to straight out ask the questions; but you can obtain the answers you need by understanding what you want to find out.
1. what is the ache, pain, problem, neeed, desire, want, ?
2. (most important) WHY hasnt the problem been solved?
3. (get them thinking) What's possible? (once I solve their primal key motivating problem)
4. Whats different now?
5. Whats should i do now? (call to action, sign up, pay me, follow me, join me, etc)

You Can Trust Me, I'm a Doctor
I have had to learn how to 'speak' copy into the minds of people who really need more help then they originally thought; when they first came to see me. You know what I mean, its the same in life. Some people just need to have their emotions brought up to the surface a bit; lovingly and honestly.

It Takes Guts to 'Say' Copy
Speaking copy takes thick skin. You must be very confident that your motive is to help the person in front of you. When you can care so much that you dont care what other's are saying about you, then you're moving towards the Alpha Networker zone.

Hi Dr. Eric,

Hmmm, I think writing web copy IS the same as writing offline copy.

The only thing that changes your copy is the market you're talking to.

I just interviewed 12 of the world's most elite copywriters and they've
told me the same thing.

But you're exactly right on all your other points.
