Help With My Site

Postby Shane Hunter on Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:54 am

Hey Guys and Girls,

I'd love to get some input on my new website. It's my site for the upcoming Alpha Networker launch. I haven't really been that active around here lately as I've been working on releasing this site. There's still a lot to come, but the meat and potatoes is all there. I'm looking for feedback, especially from my dear friends Richard and Adam.

Here's the site: www.alpha-networker.org

Sup Shane ... man I just barely saw this going through unanswered posts.
Sorry for the delay getting back to you - damn the spam in this place that buries stuff like this.

Anyway, I looked at the site and it looks pretty tight to me.
Here's a couple things that stood out for me, based on my own design expectations:

The Scan
The first thing I do, and apparently a lot of other people do, is quickly scan the entire page from top to bottom to see if it strokes my curiosity. I'm so acclimated to "sales pages" at this point that it takes all of 4-5 seconds for me to decide if I'm going to stay on the page. What gets my attention?

Good Design - the age is clean and easy to read, uses headlines and subheaders to break up and compartmentalize the content so I don't have to guess where one thing ends and another begins.

Video - I love it. I'm a visual learner and hate wasting time rummaging through mountains of text to understand what you're trying tell/sell me.

Obvious Call to Action - I hate when people hide the details. Show me the price and the terms in black and white. If you can't do that there's obviously something wrong with this picture and I'm audi.

With all that in mind your page meets almost all of it for me.
I'd say the weakest link is the scan. Based on that criteria the page starts to fall apart as you scroll down, looking like things were put together "as best as they could fit" rather than "designed with conviction and intention."

Does that make sense?

That's really the only critique I would have at this point.
Your use of white space is excellent, which keeps things easy on the eyes and your call to action stands out when it needs to.

The "bundled" cover package is a nice touch to show value in the product and the video was well done (except for the excessively long pauses - but that's out of your hands).

The only other thing you may want to play with is the header. Feels a little slapped together, but it could be trivial in the scope of overall conversions.

At this point that would be my next question ... How is it converting?
That's the stuff that really matters. Are people opting in?

That's about it from me at this time.
Hopefully Adam T., Dean, Kurt, Adam H., Greg, Josh and few others will chime in with their feedback.

Great job overall though bro - gitter done!
