Key Words Searches-Overture

Postby Susi Gilbert on Sun Sep 14, 2008 9:53 pm

I'm still in the beginning pages of MLM Traffic Formula. I'm to the part about using "Overture.com" as a source to find key words.

I went to overture.com today, and it seems to be a totally Yahoo site. They had good articles, looked like I could learn a lot from the various helps, but I couldn't find the Key Word Selector Tool that Mike wrote about in his manual.

The screen shot in the manual is dated October 2005, so perhaps this company or its tools don't exist any more. If that's the case, can someone direct me to another source for this kind of search, or to the correct spot on the site I found today?

Thanks.

Susi ---still beginning.

I stopped using the Overture one a long time ago. Sometimes It would work right and sometimes not. Now I don't bother.

For keyword research I use the following:

I use the free version of Wordtracker: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ and I use
Google's keyword tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

You're off to a good start Susi...keep at it and you'll get there!

Thanks Camissa! I was feeling "lonely" out here w/ no responses. I've got a lot of errands to do this morning, but as soon as I can, I'll go look up the links you gave.

Thanks again for your help.

Susi.

Corrisa is spot on with the Google keyword tool. Not only will it spit out keywords for you if you type in your main keyword, but you are also able to click on "Website Content". The results it spits back sorts it by relevancy so think of it as Google telling YOU what THEY think your page is relevant for.

Can you say "how I can help avoid getting Google slapped?"

The other tool I use is also Wordtracker (<== no, it is NOT an affiliate link ;)). We pay a monthly subscription and find it totally worth it. I believe they even allow you to buy a 1 day subscription. The feature I like a lot in the subscription version is the "Keyword Universe" where it actually does a form of "cooccurence matrix" and gets you keywords that are often associated with your keyterm.

Another free tool you might want to check out is: http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/ ... /index.php

Good luck!

I think there a like a zillion keyword tools out there right now. :? Sorting through them to decide which ones are the best can be a nightmare at times. Luckily, here at BN, we have access to the best of the best people who know which those tools are. :geek: That gives us an advantage over the other poor folks who have to keep stumbling along and missing out on the benefits of proper keyword research.

I guess with most things you get what you pay for, so the free versions are never going to be as good as those you pay for. However, you can still usually use them sufficiently to get out what you need. You just pay more in time. (see, nothing is really free!)

I was lucky enough to get hold of Market Samurai at a reduced price as part of the 30day challenge. Have to say up to now, I'm finding it pretty cool. Which for a tech dummy like me is good news. But regardless of which keyword tool you go with, I would still recommend you check out your results on Google's own. Always better to get your info straight from the horse's mouth imo.
Okay, I finally opened up.

Check out how I can help you.

A belated thank you to Raymond and San.

THANKS!

I appreciate your time in responding to me, and the great info you gave. Now, if my eyes would let me read non-stop for hours (new glasses later this week!), I'd be able to get to the Google and other sites you recommended!

I am so swamped with studying Mike's MLM Traffic forumla, and trying to listen to his CDs, and reading as many posts as possible, maybe I could get some websites/blogs/domains, etc implemented.

Will post a separate question(s) about some of those things.

Thanks again you two, and Corissa for all of your help.
