I hope I'm not setting myself up for some major lashing here :) Here is goes...

http://www.NewTrendSpot.com

I have done all this myself and I have NO computer experience and I am new at everything about network marketing. It's not great (not even good really) :) but it's a start.

I've tried to do several things so far that just won't work for me (could it be because of the theme I chose? I'm not sure what to even look for when choosing a theme)...

*Under the Free Training-How can I set my links to say, for example...Magnetic Sponsoring...and the person clicks on that instead of my long URL.

*I don't like the 'tags' on the top of my page. How do I put them on the bottom or hide them?

*Under Beachbody...I've tried to put video on there, but it don't work.

*I made a post and tried to put a capture box under it (like it shows on TF2), but that didn't work.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ritchie -- I am hardly a branding expert, but I really feel it can make or break your business.

I don't think its about using a yourname.com vs specializename.com. I think its more about what you do with your choice.

The whole Attraction Marketing approach to network marketing and mlm has caught on and has definitely gone main stream. So there are a lot more people putting up yourname.com blogs.

It is not as much an attention getter as it once was. I am not saying it is not viable, but like everything else in this industry, when enough people start to abuse the model, it will be less effective.

That's what already has happened to all the MLM-Domination-Yada-Yada sites.

So we are back to square one. What makes up good branding in a nervie center?
What are some strong tactics that can be used with yourname.com sites?
What are some strong tactics one can use for specializedname.com sites?

Is there a difference in approach?
I believe there is.
(And the cool thing is there is actually room for both in your arsenal, ie, satellite blogs)

AttractSponsorSucceed.com works for me. I wanted to see what your nerve center looked like.

Here is some feedback -- I am not sure if this will help or not. All I am telling you is my experience as I remember it...

When I got to your site, I think subconsciously I was looking for something connected with the Domain Name.

I looked at the headline of the first post -- it was in the ballpark, but it didn't tell me what the site was about.
I looked for an "About Me" link or a "My Story" tab, but couldn't find one.

I looked at the headline / offer above the opt in form and honestly, it sounded like the normal kind of rhetoric you see all over google -- I wasn't too interested.

So I guess what I am saying, and I realize you just launched your site -- but what I'd like to see is something more that is connected to your brand -- the whole Attract-Sponsor-Succeed concept.

Make sense? or am I totally of base here?

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks.

Hey Dan,

Looks like you've got a good start here. You are up and running which is more than I can say for myself.

The main thing that stands out here on your site is that your opt in box is a little ways down the page.

Tim teaches to put the opt in box at the top of the sidebar.

I am wondering though -- and I think the only way to find the answer is to test -- but I am wondering what if you put the opt in box in the header? Or how about in a "featured article" position at the top of the main content section?

I would be interested to see how that test would turn out.

I like your clean layout. Try putting related graphics in your posts - it will increase readership.

Oh, one last thing -- and I know that they didn't emphasize it in the video for module 2 -- but don't forget your About Me page. Just coming from a prospects pov, this is an important page to create.

Don't hesitate to put some time into it to make yourself stand out.

Geez, how about even creating a short two or three minute video to intro yourself? You do that, and you just made yourself stand out.

That's all I got for now.

Great posts Cameron. Makes me curious to see yours!

@Dan, you could change the "width" of the html widget to fit the optin in the right column. As for the ABN logo, it's a fixed php and I'd love to know how to handle that one too.

@Ritchie striking colors mate. You may want to remove a few lines and take the optin above the fold. When no scrolling is required in 1024 resolution, it converts much better.

@Randy same thing about bringing the optin up. The butler concept is pretty unique. I've heard of servant leadership ... now what's this :P

As for mine, I haven't changed it much with TF2 yet. Still absorbing the inputs. Stands at http://DoOnlineBusiness.info Love to hear what you think you'd like to see in it. Thanks.

What platform are you guys using for your blogs/nerve centers? I've heard wordpress.org, wordpress.com, squarespace, etc. Right now I just have a personal blog on blogspot, http://daniellelong.blogspot.com, but I want to do more of a "nerve center" one too. How do you put an opt-in box in?

Okay,

So.. Here comes in depth analysis. I'll try cover everyones questions. I've been doing graphic & web design for MANY years, and SEO for about 3 years. Marketing I've done since 99, and even took it in college. Take that as you will, but here's my professional opinion. It's not personal to anyone, I'm just trying to help. =)

1. http://newtrendspot.com/ - Turn Fitness Into Cash

What exactly is going on here? Your concept, and your title seem to have little to do with one another. Great work trying to get things up keep going. Excellent template choice.

    1. Your Color Choices Are FAR too busy.
Too many colors add to the distraction, and take away from the content. Some ideas for you to take a look at to help your color choices:

http://www.hypergurl.com/colormatch.php
http://www.colorblender.com/

neither is better, but pick one to create your blends.

    2. Make Sense

Use this tool to do some research on keyword competition vs. search volume:

Google Keyword Tool

Once you find a list of terms with high search volume, and low competition start searching to see if you can't find that term as a domain name. You want niche-specified terms, not broad terms. The more 'longtailed'/specific your keywords are, the better you will do.

Aside from this, by making sense - I mean your title and your subject should match. In order to do that, browse your health related biz ops for keywords, keep moving till you find something. Make that into your url, then your subject will match more specifically. Right now, I'd leave your page because I have NO idea what it is really about in the first few seconds. It looks very broad, but without a lot of content. Too much searching on my part, thus instantly discredited as a waste of my time.

Please keep in mind, I'm not saying it IS a waste of time, in fact - I'm sure it's brilliant, it's just the initial feeling I get. So that's my shot at helping you. =)

    3. More Interesting Graphics

You need some graphics that relate to your topic. That inspire interest, and desire. although cliche, a sixpack abs, or a hot girl... something other than a graphic designers rainbow would work MIRACLES with your site. Pictures speak 1000 words.. So far, you have about 100 words on your page. Add some pictures, add some content.

2. http://www.doonlinebusiness.info/ - Do Online Business

Well, my initial impression is that A. You're a really nice guy and B. That you are amateur.

My reasoning for this is that in your image, you look sincere, but the actual photo is completely washed out. The 'what pictures of me do i have sitting on my hard drive' look is not what people looking for leaders want. Changing this image to a professional one, would most likely make a world of difference.

The next immediate problem, is improper use of grammar, and big-ass words that the common folk don't understand. You use great language, but it doesn't flow properly. Sometimes using small common sentences works a whole lot better than really ridiculously articulated splendorous awe striking Nobel prize winning paragraph sized sentences that go on and on and on and on and on forever and ever and ever (i did this sentence for dramatic effect)

You Wrote
Since you are online… and the economy is no great shakes, chances are you would like to use your time making money rather than whiling both away. So here are some ideas I thought to share, which are simple, proven and good…

I Would Write
The economy isn't getting any better. You need ideas FAST on how to make money. Let me share a few with you now.

The last thing I've got to say, is your side/widget bar looks like a link farm. There is WAY too much going on over there for me to even begin to care about even one of them. If you placed just a few (check my page later on) you could randomly distribute links through your blog postings instead, and add content, as well as explanations of why you are making the referral. You'll most likely have a better clickthrough & conversion rate than posting EVERY affiliate program you've ever seen in the most important real estate on your site (the top 1/3).

Good work however, it's more developed than most in this program. For that, you're awesome. Keep moving forward, or else you're moving backwards.

3. http://daniellelong.blogspot.com/ - This Crazy Life

First impression: You are beautiful. Flat out, that's going to work to your advantage for sure! As they say, beauty sells. There's a reason there are no ugly people on TV. I would utilize more images, as well as video of you presenting whatever you're looking to market. (I'm not hitting on you either, just being honest) Your husband/hubby/man also is a looker. I'd put more pics of him, that way you'll appeal to both sexes. Nothing scandalous, modesty speaks volume after all.

Second, your site looks more like a personal blog, which is cool for sure. But I'm unsure of your intentions. I don't know what you want me to look at, and after a few seconds, I begin to feel like a creepy facebook type stalker. At the top of your page, keep images of you and your man, but make sure you make VERY clear what you are going to do for me (the customer).

Lastly, I see you're hosting on blogspot. I'd highly suggest moving over to your own domain, as that way blogspot doesn't own your content. Plus, that way they can't take it down, if someone complains. It's only about $4/month to host a site, and only $9 for a .com domain at godaddy. on checkout, just enter the code diggnation and it will give you a discount on the domain. They also have great hosting, as it integrates wordpress as well as several other blog formats.

oh, and your facebook link doesn't work.

So, once again - great work - can't wait to see the finished product!

4. http://askdanjohnson.com/ - askdanjohnson.com

You need to add a title to your page. Other than just the URL, the title is crucial advertising on a search engine as it's the big blue title you see for webpages. change it to something like "Dan Johnson Answers Your Questions On..."

You edit this under the 'header' or index under appearance.

As for your GetResponse widget - a couple of things

1. It's too far down the page. fix that.
2. it's in the wrong sidebar/widget area, move it to section 1 (this will move it up the page & it will probably solve your 'off the page' effect, as the widget area it's currently in is a two column section of the sidebar. Either shrink the widget, or move it to section one in your backpage.
3. Your title is repeated, this doesn't work.
4. if you just ask for a name and email, you might get more response. a phone number to someone i don't know is unlikely.

other than that, I like the content, just work on your copywriting skills.

4. http://attractsponsorsucceed.com/ - http://attractsponsorsucceed.com/

Same as above... Too many colors, change your title tag to something captivating. add more images, I personally would change the size of your autoresponder. It's rather large by any means. Other than that, things look great! I really like the template.

FINALLY.... LOL, MY RANT IS COMPLETE.

So, once again, I'm not trying to insult anyone. I think all your sites are great, these are just the areas that need work. Do not dwell on the negative, instead use it as fuel. =) learn from your mistakes and move forward.

Now is where you can tear me apart, I do love constructive criticism, so please feel free. But I also ignore obsessive negativity. I understand it's not perfect, but just like all of you - this is a work in progress.. That said, does anyone else wish this course were moving at a slightly faster pace?

Oh, and i completely meant to, yet forgot to answer Jackies Questions go figure, it took me an hour to write that last post... lol.

*Under the Free Training-How can I set my links to say, for example...Magnetic Sponsoring...and the person clicks on that instead of my long URL.

Here is the code:

<a href="http://deniseausten.magneticsponsoringonline.com/">Magnetic Sponsoring</a>

Now, instead of 'catching the fish' for you, let me teach you HOW to fish.

<a href=" "> this tag means "Hey Internet browser, point the link to this website. inside the " " is where you place the url, in this case http://deniseausten.magneticsponsoringonline.com/

</a> this tag means "Hey Internet Browser, this is where the link ends!

between the <a href=" "> and the </a> is where you place the 'anchor text' meaning the 'word and/or phrase you want to turn into a link.

You will notice, in my signature I have an anchor link for "Nuriche" that points to my site. On this site, it's written in BB code (bulletin board code) but for all intents and purposes we use xhtml which is what i just showed you above.

*Under Beachbody...I've tried to put video on there, but it don't work.

I assume you mean on the actual page, not on the button itself. SO, to do that is a few steps actually.

Step 1: Download and install this in your wordpress backoffice
Insert HTML Here Plugin

Step 2: Use embed code from youtube, or from your site
on youtube, in the top right corner you'll find an embed code for any video, copy that, paste it in your page in the backoffice.
if you're using your own file, hosted on your page - you'll need to go here to learn how to embed a video
http://www.tizag.com/htmlT/htmlvideocodes.php

*I made a post and tried to put a capture box under it (like it shows on TF2), but that didn't work.

Now that you've installed that plugin, HTML should work. If not, you might be using PHP. just go to 'plugins' in your backpage click "add new" try term like "allow PHP find one for that purpose, install it, then insert your capture box code as provided by the company who hosts it.
if it's not PHP, then it's java, so search for "allow java" install that, rinse and repeat.

Hopefully this helps.. If not, let me know. I'll be around. =) Shane

Thank you Shane! I really appreciate you. It IS time I looked into the blog again. Your inputs are very valuable.

One more thing... how does one change the size of the ABN logo?

no problem my friend, glad i could be of assistance, now as for changing the size of your image, do the following.

1. on your page, right click your ABN logo, click save as - save to your desktop
2. upload that new image file to your website, remembering the name and location of the file
3. change the code of the widget.

this goes under the same methods as before with my 'anchor text' tutorial...

here is the code:

<a href="http://www.betternetworker.com/members/shane_hunter" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">
<img src="wherever you place the image file hosted on your website" alt="place text here describing the image for disabled users: aka Association Of Better Networkers Verification Badge" />
</a>

so in the " " just after the <a href=>, is where you place the link to your Better Networker profile.

the <rel="nofollow"> makes sure your site doesn't give away any 'power' from your site in googles eyes (use this only when linking to larger sites that don't need you 'voting' for them.

the <target-"_blank"> code means you want the users browser to open the link in a new page. this makes sure the user doesn't actually leave your site, but still gets to see the ABN stuff. this is optional, but much advised.

<img src=" "> is telling the browser where to look for the image file.

the <alt=" "> tag is the 'alternate to displaying the image' in case a browser doesn't show the image, or in case the user is blind.

the </a> merely closes the tag, and tells the browser "this is where the link ends"

hope that helps. =)
