It's important to have an effective website or blog before you think about getting traffic.

The last thing you wanna do is spend hours getting traffic to a site that does nothing with that traffic.

If it's a blog, you wanna have great content on it first. If it's a lead capture page, you wanna make sure you have a split-test set up to track conversions. Traffic sent to an ineffective site is a waste..

I suggest you be careful with blog comments also ... If you do not know the person and there are spam comments - leave the blog and DO NOT post your link..

Posting a link on a spam blog will devalue your links and rankings....

Good point - as that would have a negative impact on your backlink efficacy - in English (for any relative newcomers out there): Google looks at the backlinks to your site, and doesn't like any nasty stuff linking to you.

So as James warns, do read the other blog comments before chipping in. Always do your due diligence. (note to self!!).

This is true ... Any traffic method worth doing takes time is what most need to understand, there is no short cut or magic button.


Ofcourse those sites still need to be marketed also .. point is there are smart ways to market and loser ways.. Spamming a bunch of sites with lame software is the loser way ...

You've made an important, but sometimes overlooked, distinction between "short cuts" & "smart ways".

Short cut: "I can't be bothered to do this properly...there must be a no-effort (& preferably free) solution somewhere that I only have to do once & the money will come pouring out of my computer screen".

Smart way: "How can I leverage & snowball computer networks (read: syndication sites et al) to help magnify what I do?"

Nice distinction professor Stein. You made me articulate something that I hadn't really considered as an important description distinction until now.

Reality - WAKE THE *#@&^%$ UP !!!! Life or Marketing does not work that way.. Just because some dumb poser like russell brunson releasing new spamming software that cost $400 does not mean you have to go run and get it to spam sites like he does.

It is called "Marketing" for a reason and that does not mean sit on butt and eat bons bons while you watch reruns of as the world turns and you make money while you do it...

Private networks is where things are going to end up due to all these spammers, then what will they do with their junky software..

Completely agree re Russell's software. I'll admit, tail between my legs, I bought it, (unlike you, I was for a while blinded by the hype) and then after a couple of troubled days wrestling with my conscience, I got a full refund.

The ONLY good thing about the cr**** "spammer virus" is that those who survive will dominate.

Attraction marketing has become a much abused art now that everyone does it.

I bumped into someone on a Skype marketing group who has only been online for 8 weeks, but she is becoming a superb marketer in that short space of time - mainly because she is taking consistent, massive action to get the results she deserves.

On the other hand, I often bump into people who are just basically posers, who pretend that they have a lot to offer, whereas in reality they are just mimicking the leaders they admire, with the hope that other less savvy newbies will fool for it, buy their stuff, and then they can sell them the idea that if they just go through the same pretence with other newbies, then they will become wealthy.

So the crowd of people following the posers are basically doomed to failure, unless they wake up.

This is really happening on a MASSIVE scale, because many are pooping their pants about their future finance situation....ie we have the rapid & vapid rise of snake oil salesmen..and as usual, many people want to believe what they're selling because they want a shortcut to achieving their own financial independence without the hard work.

Don't get me wrong - there really are incredible leaders out there who've been at this game for a long time, and they've stuck with it...and they are attracting people to them. And, as I say, there are also people who are getting results who are relative newbies, which is very encouraging & motivating.

Those are the people whose example I get inspiration from...and the traffic they generate & attract IS very good quality.

It's all about doing something everyday, don't try to do and learn everything at once, but take action everyday and eventually those efforts will pay off.

Like everything in life I use a balance of things. Between blogs that are stand a lone as well as those attached to other sites I have the back links grow. However, without article writing, forum input with good content, social media, and some secret tools that make it all come together, that balance would not occur and the traffic would not be maximized. If anyone is using one method then they probably are not getting the SEO traffic that the search engines will respond too.

One more thing domain choice as domain names matter to the search engines. A combination of all of this is going to stand the test of time. ( it take work). What you put in, you usually get out and on the net it is doubled as you can put something up once and then by building on the foundation, it is like automatic advertising years down the road.
