How Do You Not Advertise On Facebook?

Postby Mario Sanders on Sun Nov 21, 2010 6:40 am

I have been introduced to advertise on Facebook. Facebook is a social network. I have a friend who advertises on Facebook. I tell him that this is a social network and not for advertising.
Now, I am confused. How do you let people know on your friends list that you have a product that can help them with their health issues, without blatantly advertise to them?
I am turned off when I am advertised to. Don't try to sell me anything. If I wanted it, I buy it myself.
Comments will all help!

Hi Mario,

Actually you can advertise in facebook, you can place ads, and they work similar to ppc but within the facebook community.

You can target your audience. It is a new concept for me too, but I have already some people in my organization using it with some success.

If you have a product can help with health issues and you want to advertise in a non facebook ppc method, I would post some articles about a certain health condition that the product targets. For example, if the product is claimed to lower cholesterol, I would post some articles once or twice a week on the dangers of high cholesterol. Better yet, I would post some articles on the dangers of Statin drugs. I think that would grab some attention. You're not directly advertising your product, you're stating a concern or a danger that a lot of people may have experienced. By reading the articles you post, they may want to contact you and ask you some questions.

I agree though, advertising via posts is not the way to go. The method i just described actually provides facebook users with some valuable information without blatantly advertising.

Hi, the idea is good yet, you have to be careful how you do it, the FDA loves to once in awhile lurk through social marketing places and you can get in trouble. We can't say anything about curing, however we can talk about "nutritional support".

Hey Mario,

Facebook is all about building your following, and
becoming an authentic social media leader.

It´s probably not the best place to promote any kind
of product, at least not in a direct way.

I´d suggest to open Fan Pages and groups which are
specifically focused on your product.

You can also integrate article marketing and SEO,
to find the right kind of people that are searching
for your products..

To your success,

Gerald

If you have a facebook (FB) page with all your lifelong contacts don't push market (advertise) to them! Yes, that is your warm but it's not the medium you want to use. You'll be coined "The Guy" that I don't want to follow or even listen to. I may even remove you from my friends list forever.

All you want to do in FB is to make sure you have a link and maybe a couple of video's to your opportunity and then participate in all the chatter. In other words, "Let them come to you". Pull Market don't Push Market in FB. Unless you want to spend money to actually advertise there.

I'm speaking to you, do you understand the difference between push and pull marketing? The Law of Attraction is pull marketing.

Both are effective when used in the right environment and both are counter productive when used in the wrong environment.

Are you learning kind of stuff? Oh yeah, that is what this website is all about :D

I agree totally, you can say something like "I love how I feel having my nutritional shake in the morning" and post a link to your shake info, but you do not push, it is a no-no, even when you advertise you don't sell, just send people to your fan page and make darn sure you are giving some valuable information. I am just learning facebook from some friends, it is cool, by the way, the same applies to Twitter.

If you want to reach out to your Facebook friends about your health products, build the relationship with them first.
Don't come right out with the products; build their curiosity.
If they want to know more, then you can give them the website information.
Anything I can do to help.
