Sometimes the best recruiting happens when you don't really try.
The other night my cable tv went out. I called the office and talked to a very nice lady who helped me out. So I told her about my bookwise site, "I have my own online bookstore and I would appreciate it if you would check it out" - she said sure. I also gave her my email.
She sent me an email with her phone number, so I called her and we talked. She told me that before she went to work that day she prayed that she would find a better job than working as a customer service rep on the phone. I was her last call of the day. She now is all excited about her BookWise opportunity and will sign up this week! I did not try to sell her on it, I found out what her challenge was (bad job, lack of success) and shared my success stories, and positive outlook with her and wanted to help.
Do the same for the people around you. Find out what you can do for them. It may have nothing to do with BookWise, be a friend. You never know what good things will come of it.
Great stuff! So go out there with a big smile, do something for yourself and the people around you. You may never know where it will lead!

Re:A great recruiting story
Hey Dave,
That is VERY cool! Reminds me of the "3 Foot Rule", where if anyone is within 3 feet of you, you tell them about your business <grin>! But you did it over the phone! That's GRRRREAT!
Part of the success in this kind of "recruiting" is your ENTHUSIASM. That is what people will buy into. No one wants to talk to a "glum" person ... you want to be the "shining beacon" to them and they will gravitate to you!
AND it SURE sounds that you have THAT down very VERY well!!!:)
OH ... this reminds me of one recruiting technique I did years ago with a former company. Not sure if this still holds or not and it does go along with "sharing the opportunity with vendors that you work with".
I would include a "business card" in EVERY bill that I paid by mail. I would enclose the check, the bill and a copy of a business card with my "recorded information call". Nowadays you could probably put a website on it etc with some catchy phrase to get folks to call / visit a website.
Alas ... I don't do this any longer since I pay all of my bills online via my computer. AND not sure how billing departments handle processing bills these days, but I can tell you we did get some customers from that method of "selling the product and opportunity".
GREAT WORK DAVE you GO GO GO!

Re:A great recruiting story
You know wizardbooks, there was this one man, I was put off with because of many mistakes he did to me as an uppline, but anyway, one day, this guy, uppline, started phoning me up, to see how I am.
The first call, I was like, "er, I don't like you, don't know why you calling me."
Then once in a while, more calls came, and again, he didn't say anything about my business or talk to me like an uppline which I hated and had enough of, and just asked how I am doing, and I talked a little and he listened.
Third, fourth call, fifth call and again, nothing about himself, nothing about my business but, "how you doing, hope all is great, Oh by the way, did you know you that there's a shop down round, near you, where you can get really great paintbrushes."
He found out I am really into art, something I love doing, well, one of things.
Then, he got to know more about me and made each call about me. Guess what?
I invited him to dinner to our house, the resentment went, and he told me later on, his mistakes he made and he was sorry too.
He became not an uppline anymore. He became my friend. He became more than just a friend. He became my mentor, someone I can learn from and trust.
That's all I needed. I just needed someone to take interest about my life, my challenges, my hobbies, my dreams than talk about how they succeeded, and how they got this and that.
I then I did this, calling friends, see how they are, and not becaus of business but because I saw how I felt before. Not for result but because I care.
What happened? Let's say, my life changed just applying this. So you're right - be a friend, because people don't care about how much you know UNTIL they know how much you care.
