I took a look at the copy, and its not bad for a photo protection business, I just wonder if there is enough interest in the general public for this (I know its a valuable service, dont get me wrong)

have you explored some of the photo related niches, and or scrap booking niches

an idea is to create a report (a bootcamp?) around a mass market type thing like taking better pictures, or building a scarp book, give it away for free. do lots of customer surveys, make the photo service a core part of the report, and eventually the ebook.

Make sense?

p.s. I will likely make a video and line this out better, just a busy day today and it may not be till tommorow.

Ok I'm a total rookie in the Internet marketing. I want to build this plan and site and create a string of all my success. When I read mag sponsoring it all started.. the smoke started coming out of my ears and here I am....

I want to start on a 10 day boot camp - targeting the choice of an online photo site.

Why- no one is in that space helping people make the best choice for their precious memories and the mounting problems of what to do with all those pictures on the hard drive and in the boxes under the bed

Is this to broad of a market/subject?

Some titles:

"Online Photo Storage Secrets"
"Top 10 reasons to pick the right photo site"
"Learn why not all photo sites are safe"
"Don't even think about uploading to an online photo site"
"Learn the top reasons why your photos are not safe online"
"Free 10 day boot camp - picking the best online photo storage"
"Learn why not to use XXXXXX site"

Thoughts suggestions?

Jim,

I am going to come back to you on this one as it's late at night here.

A few pointers; and I would like to see your copy in an actual lead capture page - I'm not the person to help you on that, someone else will jump in for that.

I, and others may be able to help you with customer perception, presentation, copy etc.

Your very first line:

Are you prepared if a DISASTER HITS?

Depending where you are in the world that could equate to a number of events; hurricane, floods, twisters, typhoons etc. "Disaster" in itself is too broad.

What you are really trying to convey here is is that 'when' disaster strikes, what you are left with is a sense of 'emotional' loss. It's not the big things that matter like a house or a car, they can all be figured out and replaced eventually.

The emotional loss that you are trying to convey is one of 'irreplacable' memories. It's ALL about 'memories'....your family, children, the dogs/cats, funnies, weddings, christenings, the kids first stage appearance....and all that good stuff. MEMORIES, MEMORIES and more MEMORIES! This is what you have to use as your 'bait' to hook them to you/their 'solution'.

I can't really give you a fantastic opener here.....as I said it's late.

Try to convey the above message...memories, emotions, family etc.

An example would be:

"While mother nature can steal your house, she can't steal your memories......IF YOU protect yourself."

you know something to that effect.

As I said I and others will come back to you on this.

Cheers

Michelle, for someone who was tired that was a home run of a headline...

Snap, I think I may have replied somewhere about going after more mainstream offers (like scrap booking, and photography in general)

But now I am not so shure, with the tack that Michelle provided, I think we are on to something.

(I have to say that its an unfortunate truth in advertising that "moving away" ads WORK, ads like "Dont get caught out in the cold" as opposed to "step into the sunlight" being a "moving toward" ad)

Lets be flexible on the 10 day thing too, I know its a formula that Mike does well with, but choosing a photo storage site (in the average consumers eyes) probably isnt that big a deal. they just want their photos to show up where and when they want them to. (remember, at this point you havent introduced the opp, which MAKES the selection of site a big, valuable deal)

There is one cool fact from left feild too.

There are a lot of online photo sites out there selling REALLY cheap banner impressions (like 1 to 3c a click) you could buy banners on their sites to move people into yours (sneaky) lol

Just my $.02

This is getting very exciting for me... This product is so huge I have a lot of markets to target and will expand as we go.

Michele,

You took the thoughts out of my head... Thanks for hitting that right ON and the direction / focus.

Tom,

Yes we did have that conversation about a main stream market and agree that we are on to something..

I was trying to come up with 10 topics for a boot camp and was pressed to get over 4 topics that had meaning to the market. With a small number of topics is is best to write a "Report" or something like that and then follow up with an additional opt-in for daily tip to shoot better pictures.

I like the thought on the other photo sites and traffic

Tom,

I'm blushing. I think the dentist's drugs might have an effect too!

Jim can you post a link to the site so we can take a look at it. I tend to agree with Tom - I'm not too sure that a 10 day boot camp would be the best to market this. It would seem to me that people using this type of service would want convenience.

Anyway post the site and we'll take a look.

I spent some time doing some surveys (walk & talking)this weekend and learned some things about what people need and want. I have a great tourist attraction in out town so I had a great sampling of many types of people with digital cameras...

I'm beginning my capture page today and will post when I have something to review. Also put a whole plan together per Tom's note on the 10,000 millionaires post.

Hi Jim,

I believe that I know which service you're promoting (Begins with a "P" and ends in "x")

If that's the case, be very careful in how you develop your online campaigns, as I believe there are restrictions in the fulfillment company's Policies and Procedures as to how and what you can do when promoting online. (Kinda strange to me, for a service that is centered to a large degree on the internet in its delivery structure.) Check carefully the section titled "Advertising and Promotion."

Be certain that none of your own websites have any mention of brand names, logos, or use graphics that are trademarked by the company itself. There is even a potential conflict (because of the way the P&P's are worded) that the very use of the link for your company-provided replicated sales website could be construed as a violation of the distributor agreement.

I may be totally wrong about who provides your service, but based on your posts so far I don't believe so. Just be sure you understand those restrictions on promotion. I'm not saying that's the case here, but some companies have been known to "look the other way" and let their distributors go ahead to build large volumes, and then terminate the distributor for violation of the P&P's, with the volume and organization being distributed at the company's discretion (typically to one of the large pin-level "heavy hitters").

(If you would like to discuss this aspect further, PM me - I have had some experience with this particular situation, and I'd rather not air dirty laundry here.)

On the positive side, you are doing everthing right to the extent that I see it. You've identified your niche, and the primary benefits that your service will provide. You're making the wise move in capturing the information of your target market for repeat exposure, and you're positioning yourself with them by offering them the benefit of your expertise in exchange for their contact info. A good series of benefit-laden emails in your follow-up series should set the stage well for the sale.

As Tom pointed out, and as I'm sure you're well aware yourself, this niche has a built-in attraction because it deals with items that the customer has intense emotional attachment to - their own irreplaceable photographs, which have value to them beyond their own ability to even quantify. It satisfies the requirement for a viable product or service to be marketable - it simultaneously stimulates and solves a fear of loss, while also simultaneously creating a desire in them as a result of discovering the ways they can use their photos that they couldn't before.

After someone has opted-in and purchased a program. One that has follow up and up sells... is it best to do all with e-mail(auto responder) or use e-mail as the intro and link back to a web page?
