Hi all!
Do you receive constant calls and emails from people who obtain your contact information from ads you placed or from your website? Those who only show interest in your business in order to get you to look at theirs. This really makes me angry.
Case in point yesterday I received a call from a woman who identified herself as interested in the ad I placed in a local paper about Lotto Magic. I asked if she had time to look at the website, her answer "No, but please take a look at this newsletter I'm putting together, I will only charge you $259 to put your ad in it." I politely said I'm sorry I'm not interested at the moment, but what is the website I will keep it for the future. Then her answer was "You are focusing on the wrong people...this newsletter is for Spanish speaking people, they are the ones who play the lottery." I clearly stated, "I'm sorry but building the business and the residual income is more important than just playing the lottery, and at this moment our company information is only in English." She responded with "You are focusing on the wrong people." I laughed and politely said "I'm not going to split hairs over this, I'm not interested" and hung up the phone.
So not only did this woman waste my time by only calling to get me to spend money to place an ad in her newsletter, she also insulted my intelligence by telling me I'm focusing on the wrong people. Am I wrong for being disgusted? My first thought was to write the newsletter and explain our rude their customer service was...but then I thought this could be a small 1 person business and I'd get her again.
Any suggestions or thoughts?

I get calls from automated systems trying to recruit. I get emails inquiring about my biz but only wanting to put me in a marketing system. Yes, it's annoying. Lot's of sales people hitting us up on a daily basis is a given

I'd say definitely don't put your personal phone number on this site.

Hi Robin,
I hate those calls. Unfortunately since you're advertising your business and phone number, they are not breaking the "No Call List" rules, since it's a business-to-business marketing call.
Some of them offer you the chance to hit '8' or '9' to be removed off of their call list.

tell me about it, I've been getting them too. Not from ads but other marketing i've done and you think it's a genuine person asking about the business the way they write the email subject.
Luckily I've not had any calls yet but rather than wasting my time and justifying or explaining anything to them, I am sorry to say I will be hanging up.
If I want to do business with them or need their services, however good they may be- I will contact THEM!

I get calls and emails daily asking about information on business opps that I am no longer in or ever were a part of.
I get calls to my google voice number all the time.
I attribute it to a cost of doing business.
Since I quit the IM thing a few months ago, I still get the spam emails and spam phone calls, I even try to unsubscribe or report as spam, but nothing happens I still get emails from them.
The key is not getting worked up over it, they dont have the power over me to mess with my day.
The delete button and ignoring the phone call and sending them to voice mail gives me the power over them!

Hey Dusty,
Great point and that's really all we can do. There is and always will be things like this happening when you start to put yourself out there. The more exposure you have, the more you can expect to see this kind of stuff.
I bet people like Mike Dillard get pitched to on a daily basis.... maybe even hourly... .
It's just the way some people behave- either they don't know how sad it is or they don't care.

Yah, This type of marketing burns my Ass... I hate getting calls the emails I have learned to live with "delete" email. But the calls really suck... If you dont answer it leaves a long voice mail, if you do answer it is still all a waiste of time...
