They got my cell phone number!

Postby Debby Beachy on Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:51 am

Okay.. am I the only one that's getting random automated messages to my cell phone?
Is this a new way of getting leads? Within the last 2 months I get about three calls a week from an automated service pitching me on a home-based business opportunity.

You have to be kidding... right?

I wonder how much this kind of service costs the net-worker? Sad! Do people really buy into a generic voice?
I would love to get some feed back on this topic. What do you think?

Debby,

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

I hate those automated dialers and pre-recorded messages!

As far as I'm concerned, the are the very worst of the technological advancements in communication.
Have a GREAT day,
Warren

Warren...you must get the calls too? Here's the thing. I want to make myself available to people, that' what we do as network marketers. Is this something I have to deal with? Is there anyway I can cut this off without getting a new number...which I can't do?

I just don't answer calls from the one's that come through as "Unavailable" or "Unidetified" numbers. If they are a real person, they'll leave a message.

The one's that bother me the most are the one's that display a number, then start with the recording as soon as I answer. Grr..

I wish I knew how to stop them.
Have a GREAT day,
Warren

Hi Debby,

You are really brave leaving your phone number out in the open like that. While most people on BN are honest and ethical you are inviting trouble. You just put out the bait for the spammers here. Yes, there are some. So you may want to re-think that move :)

Hi Ika
I have my number all over the Internet along with my Skype connection.
I really don't know how you can be a network marketer without giving contact information. I was taught by some of the top marketers to give my phone number.

I'm not worried about it...I just find it funny/sad that's all. This must be a new way for network marketers to get leads. Most people should know it doesn't work, I mean really who wants to talk to a automated voice instructing to, "get into my money making business now."

Hi again Debby,

I totally hear you. I used to have my phone number all over the internet as well for the same reason you brought up above. (Actually it must still be out there as I keep getting the same kind of calls you do.) However, I have taken a conscious effort not to do that anymore because ... people abuse it. For some reason they believe if you openly share your phone number that's automatically an invitation to spam you with their business opportunity. It has gotten way out of hand.

I do share my Skype info. So if somebody, I'm not already connected with wants to get ahold of me they can reach me there. I also share my email. So people have a way to connect with me if they want to.

I agree, automated voice calling doesn't work. I would never join anyone in their business who uses an automatic dialer. Can it get any more impersonal?

Wow-

I don't know why people think it's a good idea...

I was sent one of the marketing pages the other day... I clicked on it, thinking it's another system that someone's involved with
(too many of these coming out every other week too.....yikes, )

and sure enough, it was marketing me this all new phone system that scours the internet for phone leads.

The sales page markets that these are qualified prospects who are looking for opportunities....

Of course, we all know better here ( I get 5 or 6 calls a week myself).

The really sad part is that it was someone that I trusted as a marketer who sent me the site.... sad because I know that they are only looking for the sale from me and not placing my best interest in their efforts.

I wonder if the same people who use the system get bombarded with phone calls coming into them as well?

Hi Jamie
Nice to meet you. I think it's a lack of quality mentoring and training. I'm not sure if all the calls are coming from one company (because I hang up all the time) or from a few companies.

I've had two calls today from the time I started this conversations. Sometimes I can go two or three days and never get a call.

Network marketing is about building relationships real live connections. I wanted to start this conversations thread just to see if others get the same calls. I believe I have my answers.
