A member of the community has a thread running right now talking about
the positive elements involved with gaining an authoritative position in the forum.

As a long time member of this forum I've seen all sorts of stuff come and go.
And I still see all sorts of shenanigans happening on a daily basis.
So I want to take a minute to point something out for the people who perhaps are
new to the Better Networker community; in hopes of saving you some possible growing
pains ...

Here's the deal:
I can tell you one way "not" to become an authority in the forum ...

Show up once a month, link drop in the forum to a self promotional piece
poorly disguised as "valuable" content and then disappear until its time
to pimp the community again.

No comments
No engagement
Not a drop of authentic interaction.

All you're going to accomplish is getting "labeled" a spammer by the people who are
paying attention and smart enough to see what you're doing.

The same people who make a point of educating and protecting the general
community that may not understand this and too new to realize it.

What makes that "strategy" even less effective is if you blatantly prance around promoting
how you target this community purely for the sake of getting traffic to your stuff.

... Just sayin.

I truly want to see you succeed and have an awesome experience while you're here.
And I hope that helps you accomplish that.

Thanks Richard, you are one of the people who have made this one of the most sought after websites in the whole Social Media arena.

Those of us who strive to bring value, find that those who insist on hitting the community with their links dilute the value of those of us who are here for that purpose. In the long run yes we are here to increase our traffic, but I for one want quality, and the only way to get that is to bring value and quality to the table.

I personally am following her moves she Lynda creates a chance for people to really think and take action in a way that others just could not get through. Her headlines are killer and her talk and walk is in building relationships with out being just another spammer. Is admirable. I have made so many mistakes here it is nice to see her take the ball and make the SLAM DUNKS.

Right on, Richard.

Any forum is a place to give, not receive (at least until you've built authority by giving a whole helluva lot!).

As you said, people will come and go and try their shenanigans and then wonder why nothing works, throw up their hands and quit and.... of course, BLAME IT on the industry.

After all, it couldn't be them, right? It couldn't be that they never took the time to learn their craft and share what they've learned to help others, could it?

Of course not.

Thanks for the compliments and the feedback everyone.

I know topics like this can be controversial and may seem negative.
I hesitated starting the thread in light of past conflicts on the site, etc.

But with everything there is a negative side and I personally think it's healthy
to discuss these things periodically so that we as a community can grow stronger.
Bringing stuff like this to light and showing why it's ineffective.

If we talk about the things not to do, I think it makes the message of "what to do"
that much more effective when we here it. We can see the contrast between the two
and how doing things the right way is far more beneficial to everyone.

I am a great fan of looking at both sides os the story and I thank you for your point of view which is dead on. I too have seen some self serving entires on here.
I think BetterNetwroker is a wonderful place to learn about so many things, all related to network marketing. WE are very lucky to have this forum to learn and speak out. I thank you for your contributions.

hey Richard,
you are absolutely correct there's people online who do exactly what you tell them NOT to but then they can't make money and struggle.

It's all about passing on knowledge and sharing quality content. When you can teach someone even 1 thing, you will be perceived as a leader an authority figure.

Or maybe another way to look at it, is they need help. Maybe some of them would even listen. I want to make sure to focus on ways I can help them. I at least at the end will be able to say that I did my part. I also don't ever want to get to the point that I am arrogant. Just my thoughts!
