I am sure there will be a lot of great discussion here!
Everyone has their favorite online and offline strategies
Offline? Online? Both? What is most effective and why?
To me though it must start with what you want to accomplish. Just doing a lot of busy work without an actual end in mind will not necessarily achieve what you are after. Do you have a plan, and how do you use it. What strategies help you achieve it. How do you teach that to others?

Hi Lynda,
Another great topic ... You're on a roll
For me this goes back to my comments on "What would you tell a newbie about social media?"
Start with the foundation.
Treat your business like a business and you'll have a business.
Every business I've ever started, even something as seemingly insignificant as making glow in the dark necklaces to sell at raves, had a plan.
I looked at:
who my ideal customers were
what did they want
how could I best provide that to them at a great price
where & how was the place to market my business
where would I get my product
how much was it going to cost to get started and maintain
what would my break even and profit points be
Then I took action to put all of that in motion as quickly as possible to get the business operational.
In some cases it took a day or two, in others it took months. Some started for free, some for a couple hundred and others took thousands. A lot failed, some did ok and a couple did freakin awesome.
But in every case I/We had a plan of some sort with a pretty solid step-by-step blueprint of what we were setting out to create and how we (at least thought), we would accomplish it.
One thing I would strongly recommend is looking for a local chapter of SCORE in your area.
Service Corps of Retired Executives
Even if you're "just doing network marketing" ... which I personally don't see as "just" doing mlm, I view it as a "traditional" business enterprise and as such I treat it like every other business I start, which usually includes a trip down to our local SCORE office to brainstorm and explore resources that might be beneficial to the project.
If you've never worked with SCORE, I can't recommend it enough.
Its an experience that every entrepreneur should be involved with at least once.
If you're brand spanking new to entrepreneurship, that would be my "Start there" step #1.

Business training. Professional development. Personal development.
The plan to get from A to B. ( I am going to sell x # of people product, I am going to sell x # of people into my business by specific dates)
The methods to use to get from A to B. (Offline - ads, meetups, parties and online marketing - blog, FB, article marketing, Twitter)
CONSTANT REVIEW OF EFFECTIVENESS OF PLAN.
Dedication. Persistence. Perseverance.

I am learning to get more exposure for your business. If that means talking to more people offline or opening another route online, such as facebook, google, blogs.
When working offline, show that you are an experienced person willing to help others to achieve their goals. You are in a business and it must be treated like one.

I think it comes down to what you are comfortable doing, how much time you have and what sort of a budget you have.
I would highly reccomend people research a strategy that is proven to work wether that be online or offline stick to it and review the results, always always make time for your marketing and as you say dont get caught up in busy for busy sake, I know i did when I started and I left countless dollars and opportunities on the table

First you need to define your passion. Use that passion to draw people to you by helping them. Monetise your passion by further helping the people you attracted

Great question, Lynda. With the rise of internet marketing, people are increasingly focused on lead-generation tactics. And very little time goes into actually conceptualizing your overall branding and marketing strategy.
This is why I struggled so mightily at first. I dove straight into a marketing system without really having a clear picture of my overall goals and objectives. Heck, I was promoting a funded proposal, and I didn't even have a back-end opportunity/product to promote. Talk about backwards.
But we're all rookies at one point. And we live an learn.
Once my partner and I focused on building a brand that catered to our audience, we quickly designed a marketing strategy that would outline specific "pie in the sky" goals, as well as the individual objectives/benchmarks needed to achieve them. That lead to a clearer picture of what needed to be done a day to day basis.
But you have to get very clear ideas as to who you are, who you are catering to, and what value you can offer that will help brand you and make you attractive to prospects.

Video Marketing & MLM Personal Branding ==> the catalyst that took my partner and I from overwhelmed internet network marketing rookies to a growing downline and verifiable internet income virtually overnight. And remember: yes you can!

Hi! You all!
In my business model...this is pretty easy question to answer.
Why?
Because I use google maps to find my leads...then...I send a postcard...and some e-mails...and some of them do agree to meet face to face...and some of them agree to get into business with us.
As you can see...we start online and after they show some interest we do belly to belly marketing...and after the relationship is been established we Sheldon get together.
Of course my model differs from most of you...because I am in the Offline niche...yes! Helping small business get an online presence.
But let me tell you...that I know a gentleman that used to hang on here...and he has a 10.000(ten thousand) people operation and most of that was made with something some marketers use to call"the old method"...yes! He is rolling lots of money doing I would say 70/30 offline/Internet.
The other person that comes up to mind is a lady that has been in business for six years...and she reached the blue diamond level (between $45.000 and $50.000 bucks a month) with no Internet
whatsoever.
The bottom line for me is that the right approach at least for me is "High human touch with High tech"
Yes! A very well balance strategy using the best of both worlds...offline and online.
Be week,
Roger Aburto
