HostGator for hosting those domains.

Period, end of story - that's it. Nothing else matches the quality, reliability and customer service of these two companies doing what they do best. Don't mess around with any other company.

Ummmmm..... Dittio... Ditto?

Hands down, no contest, don't waste time thinking about it, researching, testing, nothing....
10 years and over 600 domains later - that's my combo of choice - every time.
And obviously the choice of a bunch of really savvy marketers both here and just about everywhere else in the internet marketing arena.

No one can beat Godaddy's domain management interface, in my opinion of course.
Couple that with all of the coupons online and you've got a killer recipe for domain acquisition.
They also have VIP service once you reach a certain number of domains. I have a dedicated account manager that treats me like royalty, it's pretty bad ass I must say. And if you're really going to be buying a bunch of domains then I suggest the Gold membership ($90 per year), which gets you full time discounted domains and bunch of other extremely useful domaining tools like instant custom parked page templates with revenue sharing, etc.

And I have yet to find to more reliable hosting for everyday use on medium scale websites than HostGator. These are backed by the power house "The Planet" hosting company - one of the best in the world. And the cPanel management environment is world class. Practically anything you want to do from installing Wordpress, a forum, email accounts, etc., can all be done in a matter of minutes.

HOWEVER - I will say this....
If you plan on creating a large community or membership style site in which you expect to receive large scale traffic require high bandwidth levels, ie. 2500-3000+ hits per day and 20+ GB file transfers, then I would consider using an enterprise level solution such as RackSpace Cloud or Amazon EC2. These are for bigger sites, with high traffic, bigger budgets and larger demand for stability, speed, load balancing and greater dependability.

These enterprise solutions are also more technical from a management perspective, however once you've reached level you shouldn't be doing this stuff yourself anyways. That's what your staff is for.

Why not?

This can be done no matter where you are hosting the domains purchased through GoDaddy, even if you are currently hosting them with GoDaddy.

I have been using Godaddy for my domain registrar. I have my email account set up through them as well but I have had some recent problems with the email. On test emails I'm getting the email bounced back with an error. I contacted godaddy but they still haven't figured it out. I'm looking to switch providers and was wondering what domain registration services others are using.

Thanks for the input everyone. Have a great weekend.
Take care,
Matt

I think you don't have a problem with the domain, your problem could be your hosting provider. Who is your hosting provider by the way?

I can't believe all of these recommendations for GoDaddy! What??? They are awful...they have a default setting where they automatically renew your domains and charge your credit card for it unless you can find where it is that you change this setting. Which speaks to another one of their problems...they are NOT easy to use! Not to mention their penchant for holding domains hostage after they've expired. I guess if you don't want them anymore, it's okay for them to jack up the prices 3 months after they expire so that whoever else wants them can pay more.

I use Namecheap. Excellent service, reasonable prices and they take no hostages!

I use GVO (message me for an affiliate link, free bonuses, etc.)
I've used different hosting sites, but in my experience, a smaller company like gvo has exponentially better customer service.

I've also had experience with hosting companies that are mlm companies and my experience has not been good. They tend to close when the downline dries up and then you are stuck. I have no experience with GVO but I would advise you to proceed with caution. Check reviews and make sure you know hosting account email address, mailing address and multiple phone numbers where your tech person can be reached.

My blog was shut down for 2 months while I tried to get my hosting account switched over when I was with that MLM hosting company. They had sold it to another company in the UK. When I called the tech admin number on the WHOIS account, it was some guy named Matt who lived with his parents. Yeah. Seriously. It was crazy. I had to launch a complaint with the ICANN people and the company in UK made it right. But it took 2 months. :-/

I did a lot of research and asked many people before purchasing my first domain and 10 domains later I would never change purchasing my domains from GoDaddy and my hosting from HostGator. Even when I have had issues both companies were quick to help and fix any issues I had..
