This is so true Lawrence.
In branding yourself, there is only one person actually doing the branding. What one person can do will never equal what a whole team of people are able to do like the celebrities.
Gaining one person at a time is a good start!

It's definitely a good idea to brand yourself. Each of us are individuals and are different to each other. It's easy to follow others and copy websites and blogs etc with no individuality involved. There's nothing there to make you stand out from the crowd and make someone see you as different and refreshing instead of the usual same old thing over and over.

People want to see the face behind a product or a website too so they know who they could be potentially dealing with. They also want an inspirational person, one who they may look up to or aspire to be. You must be trustworthy also and not mislead the people, once you lose a person through being untrustworthy or dishonest you've lost them for life. You need to be passionate about what you do and the people need to see it.

This so true, Kenny.
We are not only promoting our products and services, we are promoting ourselves as well.
People will buy from someone they can trust, or are familiar with. They are buying because they can put a face to a product they have become to trust and like.
Coco-Cola has a Santa Claus promoting their products. A familiar face connected to a familiar product.
Wendy's Restaurant has a little girl named Wendy promoting their fine food restaurant.
And of course, McDonald's has Ronald McDonald promoting their restaurants.
As online marketeers, we are no different. Our face is promoting our products and services. People are encouraged to join that familiar face, to be on that team to be successful.
Branding yourself does play a major role in getting the online public familar with the products and services being available. The public has a familiar face to identify with and buy those products and services they may become to like and stay with.

Definitely true Mario. Once you build up a solid brand that people trust and will come back to your well on your way. I found it takes a lot of work and time to build up a brand of your own but it is much more benificial than staying under the wing of another name and promoting them. :D

Thanks Paul.
Products and services may change, but our brand stays the same. We do promote products and services that we are recommending and we are representing. So we have to promote the best of ourselves all the time to establish our brand to the public.
Certainly I would not promote a product that is of poor quality or inferior to what my standards would be.
The public would have entrusted us to have tried the products and believe in them enough to promote them to others.
There is a lot to be said when it comes to branding yourself!

Branding yourself is the ideal way of building business. How do you brand yourself? You tell your story that only you have that makes you unique. Once you stop pushing your primary business opportunity and start telling everyone about you, people will be compelled to listen. People will start relating to you and feel emotionally connected to you. Once people are emotionally connected, they will be more inclined to buy. Through telling your story you reach out and befriend strangers and friendship reinforced by values will stay strong.

Thanks Robert and everybody.
Branding yourself is a vital key in building your business offline and especially online marketing.
Why would one person chose one personality over another? For one, they are familiar with a name and what they stand for.
In branding yourself people come to expect a certain level from you and they can trust. Building on that trust is crucial in staying in business.

I believe that branding yourself is important but what is going to make people listen to this joe smucketeli or that jane smucketeli. In working on your 'brand' just provide value which establishes your brand. I mean its like to compete with Air Jordan's I came out with Fly Fraser's. Who the h--l heard of Fly Fraser's (haha) but the point is my 'brand' of shoes wouldn't go anywhere unless I first established and positioned myself as a person who is knowledgeable about shoes or a big time basketball/baseball player/golf/haynes spokesperson/who has a son who plays basketball.

True That, Robert!
Nobody will ever know who is this Robert Fraser guy if you don't open your mouth and brand yourself to the public. Let somebody else get to know your name and let it spread about who you really are.
Nobody ever heard of Nifty or Blue Horse either. But they provided notebook paper for years. The name of Avery products are even less familiar as they provide templates to labels.
Somebody had to go out and put the products on the market in discount, paper product stores and office supply outlets where they have become very known in their own markets.
Maybe we should find our own markets and become known in what we do.
If we are in the health industry, we should establish ourselves in the health magazines to brand ourselves.
There are many ways to brand ourselves. We just have to find the correct market to do it in.
Thanks for all the contributions.
