Businesses live and die by numbers

Postby Joy Medina on Tue Aug 30, 2011 11:23 am

Business is like a gamble or like playing cards in the Casino where you don't know if you win or not.

So the number that is death to any business (and is death to
even non-business owners) is the number 1.

What do I mean?

Well, nothing can hurt you MORE than relying on one of anything. Like, for example, one job or one income source/stream, or one customer that makes up most your sales, and so on, and so forth.

Take one job, for instance. If you only have a job to support you and your family and no other way of bringing home the bacon, and that job is yanked out from under you, you're toast.

One is DANGEROUS.

And this is why having a home business is so important. Especially today, the economy goes up and down like a roller coaster. If you think a job is truly "secure", think again. Unfortunately, people are still programmed to think they have security if they have a "good job" when nothing could be further
from the truth. If you rely on a job and lose it, your income is gone.

Your family is vulnerable! Am I right?

So discover the new online business from your home.

So true the GREAT Dan Kennedy say the most dangerous number in business is 1, 1 employee, 1 team member, 1 marketing strategy , 1 product, etc..

Hey guys..

I can't believe how much I've heard this lately (it's one of those things where the universe is kind of telling me something)

Yes, 1 is the most dangerous number in business.. :?

My mentor often tells me this all the time, and I've seen it here in the forum so much lately (especially from you Chris).

It makes so much sense, and I feel I'm following the rule in regards to my marketing strategies (I don't rely only on 1 way to drive traffic)

Thanks for reminding me Joy (I've got a couple of VA's over there in the Philippines too) :)

Have a rocking day!

Luke :D

Hey Joy. I agree with you 100% on never relying on one of anything but I have to disagree with you that business is like gambling. Do your research, learn the skills to run a business, watch the numbers and business is more secure now than the 9-5 good job false security.

I'm with you on that one Joyce. It takes time to acquire the skills, however once you have them and track everything you do then it becomes educated risks - but not gambling. :D

To me when I was a newbie this was really confusing. What I have learned is track your own stats, know your numbers. How many must you be talking to to convert to distributors or customers. And then the other piece is the relationship we build because everybody knows that people only join you when they know, like and trust you.

Jim Rohn outlined that perfectly, in which he said, when your skills are low it will take more numbers. As you get more skills those numbers may change. In the internet we know that its about filling up the funnel. We bring more value to the market place our averages increase and get better. Not much mystery in that!

yes i totally agree with you but even if you run your own business it is very important that you have more than one business too. It can be very risky to have all your eggs in the one basket. Sometimes having lots of companies and leveraging your resources can work wonders, after all if you know how to promote one business, you can do the same for others.

It's maybe also a good idea to have business with different start up costs, while some small businesses may add up a large income over time, you can use the high ticket programmes to get you off the ground!

all the best

I agree with the take that businesses live and die by numbers to the extent that the person running the business knows his/her numbers.....

Joyce is right, it's not a gamble if you actually operate your business on metrics. For example, if you track your marketing and find that one method works 5xs better than another method, then a smart business decision would be to use the better method.

As for the intent of the post, depending on 1 thing isn't running a smart business for sure.
Point is well taken!

Best,
James

I am going to respectfully disagree with you. Businesses live and die by "the building of relationships" or the lack thereof. Most business-builders talk about "building relationships" with people. How many of them actually practice it or properly teach it to the people that join their business?

The same thing is true for traditional businesses. Build relationships with people and your business will build itself. Care more about the people than the numbers. How many experts are teaching this strategy? Better yet, how many of the people that join their business are actually "learning" this strategy?

Of course the more people that you teach to build their business properly, the more money EVERYONE will ultimately make.

In my opinion, that is why only 2% of the population actually succeeds and becomes wealthy in any business.
