Product Versus Opportunity ...

Postby Contempo Marketing on Thu Sep 01, 2011 2:21 pm

I was recently approached on the best marketing methods for someone's online business. They had currently been marketing the opportunity with no success...

We switched the marketing scope to a more product centric campaign, and generated 15 sales in 2 weeks (focused on product sales), compared to 2 sales in 3 months...when focused on the "opportunity"

There seem to be a lot of leaders in this forum who pitch "marketing secrets" in their SIG LINE ....
So I am curious ... are you pitching the PRODUCT or Opportunity ?

No theoretical's please... lets have a sustainable conversation quantified by real results or numbers... THANKS

I am pitching the fact that I can offer solutions to people's problems. The first step is to get to know people and their current situations so that I know which solution is going to be the most profitable for them, which in turn will be the most profitable for me.

Once again the age old philosophy comes to light: People won't care about your product or your opportunity until they KNOW how much you care about THEM!

Chris can you share a little more on "Solving Problems"...

What solutions do "you" offer to solve those "problems"...?
More importantly what problems do people come to you with ?

What makes your solutions better than others ?

Here in the forum itself I feel it's best to pitch YOU.

Think about it:

Everyone's got their own business in mind. Who here cares about YOUR OPPORTUNITY or YOUR PRODUCT.

No-one.. zip.. squat..

Isn't that the real truth??

Luke

On this forum you pitch your ideas, NOT YOU, no one's buying....You are right!
This forum is meant for idea exchange not to generate sales, and that's the truth...

Now if you maintain that no one cares about "your opportunity" or "your product" then it shows a flawed mentality and part of the many reasons so many fail in this industry...

So Luke going back to the purpose of this thread ....Product or Opportunity ? If none of the above... What "DO YOU OFFER" that distinguishes your business from the next ?

In response to your question. What can I do to solve people's problems? Let's face it, 98% of the population is not where they want to be financially and I would venture a guess that that includes most of the people on this site. Why would we be here? Most of us are here to either get leads and make money for our own business or to learn how to do just that. Am I right?

So what solutions am I offering? I am doing what 2% of the population is NOT doing. I know that nobody on this site cares about what business or product I am marketing. I also know that, as I said previously, that most of the people on this site are NOT making money with their current business.

I can show them how they CAN start making money. (HINT: I'm not selling a system so I can funnel leads to my website.) And it is NOT by spamming my links and calling marketing a numbers game. It is about caring about YOU and YOUR business. That is my first step.

Of course you need to market the product.
After all - this is all about the product.
All companies that respect themselves will tell you -
First - market the product. If someone will love it - you can tell them about the opportunity and most of the chances that they will show interest.

.

Great topic.
Let's look at some things I never hear anyone talk about...

1. Everyone is looking for "business builders" and everyone is constantly talking about the money.
Yet, whether they admit it or not, or talk about it openly, a large percentage of these people are barely making any money, if any at all.

2. The industry is plagued with "content" constantly labeling it as a SCAM.
Hmmm... now why is it that consumers seem to think network marketing is a scam?
Could it be that 98%+ of all the content out there using the word SCAM was posted by FRIGGIN NETWORK MARKETERS! (can you say consumer programming?)

3. Tally all of that up and combine it with the fact that very few talk about the "product" and you have the perfect combination for ridicule.

Hey look at me, look at me, I'm a NEW Guru, I just started yesterday and I'm going to show you how to make $50,000 per month using the internet!.... oh yeah, we have this product thing over here too. So let's get started. First thing I want you to do is write a bunch of reviews of other companies and make sure you use the word SCAM in the headline; it gets people's attention and then you can show them our awesomest company. Now go make your success happen!

Makes me want to f#&kin puke!

Now here's some info you don't ever hear about...
Did you know it's the LAW to maintain a minimum 70/30 ratio of customers to members in a network marketing company. So in essence if you have a large % of your business derived from strictly members (i.e. business builders, opportunity seekers, people strictly in it for the money) that your company is susceptible to regulatory investigation as a ponzi or pyramid scheme.

Hmmm... now I wonder why people often times think of network marketing as a pyramid?
Could it be the majority of distributors treat it like one????

Network marketing is a variation of Direct Sales - period.
You must be focused on building a customer base at least 70% of the time - this isn't up for debate.
It's The Law.

The longevity of any business is founded on customers and customer loyalty.
Kick out a great product, sell it a reasonable price compared to value and you'll win.

Personally I'm on a mission to raise the bar and bring a much higher caliber experience to this industry than has been done in the past 3-5 years. This industry is too valuable to shit on the way people have been. And the marketplace needs to see just what this amazing business model is capable of.

Ignore that fact, put your head down and go right back to spamming Facebook and you'll suffer the consequences you dig for yourself.

Richard....

I think I just became your number one fan...

You are absolutely right and well said...

Now on to Chris..."I can show you how to change your financial situation" ... I have to ask this even further ... HOW ?

"I am doing what 2% of the population is NOT doing"...and what is that ?

"I can show them how they CAN start making money"...how and doing what ?

Now Chris I am not attacking you but these questions come up as your statements seem to be cookie cutter, almost everyone says these things...

Now I will tell you 6 out of 10 of my clients know diddly squat about their product witch is so sad.... YET MANY WONDER WHY THEY CAN'T CLOSE A SALE .... HMMMMM

I THINK BRAVO SUMMED IT UP PERFECTLY ...

Most everyone in this industry are students trying to be teachers, lacking the fundamentals...Yet you call yourselves leaders ???? It's kind of like the blind leading the blind dontcha think ?

Hey Contempo (if that be your real name) !

I would say YOU ARE your IDEAS? How can you distinguish the two in this forum?

Now if you maintain that no one cares about "your opportunity" or "your product" then it shows a flawed mentality and part of the many reasons so many fail in this industry...

I believe in this forum everyone shares the same basic agenda - THEMSELVES. Is this a flawed mentality or is there some truth in it? I love my company and believe it can change people's lives.

"I OFFER" solutions to people's problems..

There seem to be a lot of leaders in this forum who pitch "marketing secrets" in their SIG LINE ....

In this forum I can't really see any point in really doing that because EVERYONE IS DOING THAT. I'm here to make friendships for the long-term. This gives the best chances for success. It goes in this order:

1. Friendship.
2. Distributorship.
3. Directorship.

If I really gel with someone then that's great! If they get the idea 'in their head' that they want to work with me then this is EXACTLY what I want. Here IN THIS FORUM I'm not going to pitch my product, NOR my opportunity. Why the heck would I want to do that?

Away from this forum it is a totally different story obviously.. but here IN THE FORUM everyone is thinking about THEIR OWN BUSINESS.

Anyway, this is how I do things here in Betternetworker.
