Don Lapre commits suicide in jail before trial begins

Postby Melvin Goodrum on Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:05 am

From Fox News:

Embattled Arizona TV pitchman Don Lapre was found dead in his jail cell Sunday morning, myFOXphoenix.com reported, citing law enforcement sources.

Lapre was being held in federal jail without bond, awaiting trial on charges of defrauding at least 220,000 people out of nearly $52 million. Prosecutors accused him of selling worthless vitamins that could not live up to advertising claims.

Spokesman Matt Hershey says Donald Lapre was found dead in his cell at a Florence facility Sunday morning. His trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Hershey says the death remains under investigation.

Lapre was arrested June 23 in Tempe by the U.S. Marshals Service after failing to appear a day earlier for his arraignment. He had been camping out inside a gym locker room.

A grand jury indicted the 47-year-old on 41 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud and promotional money laundering in connection to his company "The Greatest Vitamin in the World."

Hi Melvin,

I had heard this on the radio. It's sad when anyone
feels that the answer to a problem is to end their
own life. Just think if everyone who was promoting
a scam and was solely focused just on the money
instead put people first and promoted something
that could really help people. How wonderful the
world would be. Kind of like heaven on earth. It all
comes back to treating others like we want to be
treated. The Bible has a lot of really good advice in it.
Have a great day!

Peace, Health and Prosperity,

1 Tim 6:10 the love of money drive men into destruction and ruin. Not money itself but when you are willing to do anything for money.

I have a friends who bought one of his products back in the 90 teaching mail order. To this day this guy makes $100,000 per month selling info priducts through direct mail.

I have even learned some cool strategies from him that can be effecitve if you use them in honesty of heart.

Just think how much more he would be making if his products really works and performed as he promoted.
We should all have his skills to promote something that we all can truly believe in and a good company to stand behind.
Just like the song, "For the Love of Money", 'you will sell your own mother... for that mean green.'
Less we forget that we are not only in this business for the money, but really here to help others to achieve their goals. Greed does have to take the back seat. The success of others is primary. The profits from our efforts are there to assist in reaching others to be successful as well.

Several people think what they see on television, including on infomercials pitching goods or services late at night. Consumers should be mindful because there are many infomercial cons out there. So people must also think and be aware of purchasing products even if it was advertised. Source for this article: Be wary of infomercial scams.
