Hi Anthony,

When you post a status update, or a picture, video, in the lower right hand corner of that box right next to the post button is a button that says public or whatever setting you have. Once you click on this button it will give you options.

You can then choose a list to send your post to and only those on that list will get it. No one else will see it. You can also hit the customize button and choose multiple lists to include, exclude. You can also tag individual people.

I don't separate business from my family and friends and I don't separate my life from business. For me it's all intertwined. I am a very public person and I wear my life on my sleeve. But I do separate some posts by my lists.

There are times I don't need my family, friends, and mlm people to see a video that I made specifically for my non mlm clients.

I do this by uploading a video clicking on the link (which may say public) next to the post button, scroll down to my specific list choose it and then hit post. No one else will see it.

Same thing with a list I have with a reunion I am organizing. I make status updates regarding the reunion and I'll post to just that list. No one else needs to see it.

I also have an MLM list that I made from prospects, to leaders I like to follow. At times I will separate my status updates for just that particular list.

Fan pages and groups are great. One benefit of a group is that the status updates that are made in the group will always show up in every group members notification list, regardless if they made a comment.
It happens automatically if you are a member.

This is something I just learned about when I was noticing notifications were showing up from groups that I have belong to. People usually check their notifications to see who has responded to something they may have said. This will increase the number of eyeballs who read your update. Group updates do not show up in the news feed.

A fan page update appears in the news feed but not in the notifications list unless you made a comment on a fan page status and then someone makes another comment after you. It's no different than regular profile.

Hope this helps some.

Here is also something else to consider.

It's against facebook rules to have more than one profile.

I know many people have more than one profile for personal and business. I know of two people personally who had their accounts terminated for this practice. Not sure how facebook found out. They were not sure either. Remember it only takes one disgruntle person who knows the rules to ruin it for you.

But, it's not against the rules to have more than one fan page or group. Also you can hit a link and switch over to visit other fan pages and make comments, participate as your fan page not as your personal profile.

So instead of them seeing your name next to your comment they will see the name of your fan page. It's one of the ways I've been adding to my fan page. People like my comments and it brings them over to check out my page. I just started doing this and it's working. I went from 1 to 2 visiting my fan page in a week to 15 last week.

Right now you can only comment on other fan pages as your fan page. You can not comment on personal profiles or groups as your fan page. At the moment you can not comment as your group on other groups.

Here's something else. If you accept someone as your friend who is a mlm prospect, etc. accept their request and then redirect them to join your fan page or if you have a group let them know that you will add them to your business group (which you can do) because this is where you interact most with mlm business minded people and provide training or whatever.

I feel It's okay to add them because they have requested your friendship in the first place and want to learn more from you.

Don't this with personal friends.

Cesar Fasano wrote:I personally separate family/friends from business...

The reason is because I connect with both groups in a completely different way
and honestly: I track what I do.

For example, if I post an article about "How To Write An Ebook" in my business FB
profile I want to see how many people in my list actually click on the link and check
out the info...

I already know my friends/family won't do it. They use Facebook for other purposes.

It's just common sense to me. Anyone else agree?

I agree. You must create a separate page for your business to generate traffic/leads. Also create a separate page for each program/offer you promote.

I struggled with this for a long time, but I decided to great a page that was dedicated to my primary business. Since my personal page did have a lot of family and friends on it, I didn't want to fill up my wall with all stuff about my business.

So as I created the page, I did post occassional things on my personal wall, so long as it still related to who I was, before I started the business. Does that make sense?

I see it happen to often, that so many people start a new business and complete transform their personal FB page to be the pitch, store and ad wall, instead of remember who and what they used to share on there before.

I would definitely start a page, and slowly emerge that with content that relates to your goals with the business, yet still be true to who you are. I think there is a fine line in Social Networking and using FB to share your business. You can still share pieces of your business on your personal page, but definitely be selective and think about your general audience, and how it would be received. Way too many people do it the wrong way.

Here's a video from a conference I was on the panel for talking to social media and the "do's and don'ts"!

Hope this is helpful!

Best of luck,

When people say that they have created a 'new facebbok page' do they mean by that a new account or is there some way of utilzing your existing facebook account for another private/business purpose? and if there is could somebody please share that knowledge on here? thanks, regards Jim T.

Whether you have a Fb personal profile or fan page, FB is a way which we are supposed to grow our warm market. It's not a place to sell and spam people. This is one mistake most people make. They sell. People go on FB to connect and network with different people. We should use FB by providing value to others. We can give an offer which will require people to leave their name and email and phone if you want, but it's important not to sell at first. Focus on building the relationship. After all, this is a relationship business.
100% Commissions paid daily and instantly? This was almost kept a secret! We can teach you how to make that possible.

You can create a "page" with your personal FB account. It's connected in a sense, but allows you to post things that are more business related, if that's your goal, instead of flooding your personal profile wall with it, if you choose to keep them separate.

This is my primary FB page: http://facebook.com/taryneperry, if you wanted to see.

I try and keep some things separate, but since fitness & nutrition is my passion, I do tend to share on both on occasion. Hope this helps, Jim!
