Have you ever had a sponsor that never contacted you?

Postby Donnie Norton on Mon Dec 19, 2011 9:20 pm

I am writing this because it is something that I have never done. My sponsor in my primary business has never called me, sent me a personal email or anything like that. I joined with him because I wanted to be on the front line of someone who was making the kind of money that I wanted to make. I am not sure if I am regretting this decision. I did not get to know him before I joined and had never even spoken to him. I understand that he is very busy but is there really an excuse for not talking to your sponsee's? I personally talk to my downline either by phone or with a personal email not a copy and paste one. have you ever not talked to a sponsee even just to welcome them? Have you ever joined with someone out of envy? I realize that I did wrong and can take constructive criticism.

I had time when it took a really long time but never when they just did not call me. I would try to go upline above them or call home office see what they can do.

I've had many a non contact from my sponsors in times past.

I got in one deal, Ameri-Plan, which was introduced to me by my X wife. Actually I'm glad she did not contact me afterwards, don't need to re-open old wounds. :)

Fortunately, I did have a great Upline in Ameri-Plan, so there was the opportunity to get support.

I have always considered myself a self starter, so if the sponsor doesn't show up, screw em, I'm going for it, if it's worth going for.

Being a great sponsor starts with us.

Of all my years of doing biz-opp's, I have been burned many times, thus I know what to do and what not to do to future business partner's.

There is a flip side to the coin...

Many distributors complained that their sponsors, upline calls them and saw it as the upline or sponsor needed them. That....

'Oh, always calling me. I bet it's about the business. Blah, Blah, Blah...'

You can't win sometimes.

You damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Yes, I had sponsors who never called by phone, pm'd etc etc but I never took it personally. And when he did call it was maybe about the biz, conference etc, which was fine too.

I didn't join the opportunity because of that. I joined to learn the skills, make money and knew, that with Network Marketing model, you can reach up further to other uplines and go beyond the sponsor.

So, it was never a big deal.

Plus, I joined with a mindset that it's upto me to learn the rope, like any other business. And if I needed something; it's not going to be given and need to ask, reach up and make it happen.

And if I was going to succeed, it won't be because I was brushing next to a 7 figure income earner.

As for downlines, I didn't contact them either but when they needed help, they knew I was around to help - and contacted me by email, or phone, and sometimes, I'll meet to see how I can help.

That's how I know, someone is serious and also, I want to make sure, they won't be crying like babies, to mummy, daddy on..

'Oh, upline calls again. I bet it's about products, biz.'

I've been there. I know how childish and immature adults can be. They want someone to do something, and they don't do it themselves - and not realise, how busy a person can be if they are building the business hardcore.

Imagine, having 10,500 in your team. Actually forget even that. Let's say even 500 in team. Old school, in the trenches, traveling in car.

Then a person will learn how you can forget even on the most simpliest of things of calling someone or pm them and emailing.

You're busy helping building legs, creating tap roots, training others on products, on prospecting and traveling to help other teams in other organisations.

Like running the hotel meetings, making sure the next speaker is booked, getting everyone to know when the date is and on and on. Helping to build other distributors legs, and so forth. Stuff that gets you driving from one city to another and this is no exaggerations, it was I used to do for sometime. You come home tired.

And if it's online, you got even more distractions, work to do. From market research, keyword research, creating products, creating content, creating your sales funnel, optimzing website and on and on it goes.

So if the sponsor, upline doesn't call, doesn't email then....

Call them.

And I'm sure, they will be glad you called, happy to hear from yah and have a good chat.

If the person doesn't....

Reach up to other upline.

Thanks for all the inputs. I have called him 2 or 3 times and he has never hung up or not taken the time to answer my questions. I guess sometimes it goes back to the old saying "If it's going to be, It's up to me." Whenever I have had questions and asked for help I have always received that help, whether it was from a sponsor, forums like this or .....wait for it.......finding the answer myself by doing some research. Have a great holiday everyone.

When I first started out, my sponsor worked with me very often to get me up and running on my own. We kept in contact all the time. We went to conventions together. We were never introduced to our sponsor. I felt that we were really out on a limb by ourselves learning the business. Now my sponsor has moved back to her hometown. Our time schedules are much in conflict so we don't talk at all any more.
Now I am on my own where my sponsor has never contacted me nor any of the uplnes. But they are still getting the residual checks from my end.

Hi Donnie!

First of all keep doing what you are doing as in building a relationship with your downline (You are showing Leadership skills).

Don't focus on that particular sponsor. Ask around who are your other uplines (maybe in an event). Work with people who produce. Check also other leaders not necessary in your team and work with them.

That's how we work no matter which team we are... we are ONE Team.

Hi,
Does your business have a community where you could go for help? It maybe an idea to really focus on finding a Mentor within your niche or your organisation. One other suggestion is to ask for a new sponsor, I guess it largely depends on what a "sponsor's" role is defined as ie 1 - recruiting people into their business or 2 - recruiting and mentoring/coaching etc.
Kind Regards,
Jayne

Hi,
it is true Adam as you build your list of contacts
is gets harder to keepan open dialogue with every
team member.
The people who are pushy get more help,if you
#are quiet you sometimes get forgotten about.
As Jayne said if you have a forum you can also
ask for help from other members.
It is also good to be able to attend weekly webinars
to receive training and help....
All the best Brian :D

As my primary sponsor and I did was to get connected with another sponsor who was in the next town over from us. We went to their functions and conventions and gatherings. We met several of the higher uplines including the main upline who came and spoke at several of the conventions we attended. We did learn a lot from the business on our own without our sponsor.
