First lets talk about why it's virtually impossible to lure an existing
heavy hitter into your opportunity. A heavy hitter or top earner
is someone who is making a significant income in their opportunity
and probably has a downline of thousands, if not tens of thousands
of distributors or more. It's not very likely that this individual will
give up their six or seven figure annual paycheck, plus alienate (and
ultimately lose a portion of) their downline by jumping to another
company.
After all, if you study top earners, you'll find that most of them have
committed years to building a business in their chosen network marketing
company. It's because of this long term commitment and dedication
that they were able to build a sizeable downline and a substantial full
time income, believing that they will throw all of that away in order to
jump to a new unproven company and start all over from scratch is not
realistic.
However, I continue to hear from people who know someone who knows
someone who is a heavy hitter in XYZ company and if they could only get a
DVD to them, they'd surely join. It's a waste of time to focus on something
like this that will provide little results and after your attempts at finding a
heavy hitter fails, you're back to square one trying to figure out how to build
your network marketing business.
However, all is not lost. You can get heavy hitters in your downline if you're
willing to invest the time and money necessary to do so.
Two Steps To Get Real Top Earners In Your Downline!
Task #1: You Must Become A Heavy Hitter
If you want to attract top earners into your downline, you must become a top
earner. People who are serious about building a network marketing business
and may ultimately become a heavy hitter will be attracted to join under people
who are successful in their chosen company. All top earners started from scratch
and grew their network marketing business over time.
Task #2: Focus On Growing Heavy Hitters
If you want top earners in your downline, the key isn't to steal them from another
company. It makes more sense to find people with leadership abilities or a driving
passion to build an extra income and coach those people into becoming top earners.
If your downline becomes a Heavy Hitter University where you train and grow top
earners, you'll create a larger downline and bigger income than you'd get by wasting
your time trying to lure a heavy hitter in from another company.

Re: The Challenge Of Recruiting Heavy Hitters
Good tips! Just think about how many opportunities there are to help new networkers become heavy hitters ... and how few opportunities exist to entice a heavy hitter away from his/her company. Where is the time and energy best spent?

Hi Jim,
it is true, build a strong business and you
you will attract people who want to work
with you.
They will not desert their business, however
they would probably work on a joint venture.
All the best Brian.

Re: The Challenge Of Recruiting Heavy Hitters
It does seems best to build your own heavy hitters. You have trained them the way you want them to be. They are better able to duplicate what they were taught by you. Their thinking will still be aligned with yours. You are not teaching anybody new tricks or re-educating your downline. You have built your own downline to be their own heavy hitters. If anything, the heavy hitters will be searching to join you because of your great success!

Yo-
The only distinction I can add to the conversation is that my goal is never to lure heavy hitters to me; I just focus on building my own infrastructure so heavy hitters feel comfortable working with me.
Just as an example, recently a guy who made a bunch of sales in a high-tier opportunity was thinking about joining a low tier mlm. He had bought one of my information products and had seen me on the leaderboards in my opportunity. (The well-prepared info product proved that I knew what I was doing, and the leaderboard proved that I did the stuff I said I was doing). When he got on the phone with me, he admitted that his process for training his downline was a mess, and by showing how well-structured my training system was, he gladly joined my team.
In essence, I think that is the easiest way to attract heavy hitters (rather than trying to lure them or do anything uncool).

I believe thats one of the best ways to attract heavy hitters
by becoming one yourself.
If you can create your own heavy hitters i believe that would
be more powerful.
Those people will be extremely loyal to you because they got
to the top of the leaderboards with your training and your help.

I chuckle to myself every time I hear this from someone. I then advise them exactly as you do in your post, Jim, and if they are not hearing me I may get a little more forceful in my information. I may even tell them either a) while you are trying to recruit that person, I will be recruiting someone who will actually work and will probably recruit many compared to your attempt for one; or b) I more often than not just simply say..."I don't do that because I would rather get some new people that are coachable and will learn to do it right." which usually causes them to pause long enough to get real and listen.
