The Negative Of Marketing With Online Video's

Postby jim wel on Tue Jan 03, 2012 5:11 pm

Just wondering about the loss of online sales, because a prospect/customer
doesn't have a high speed online connection to view a video. Don't know
what the percentage of slow speed dialup customers are to be concerned
about this. Personally I like to use the video for demonstration that requires
a video to accomplish the task at hand, but for basic marketing, prefer to
use the text/graphic format so it's compatible with slow speed/high speed
and anything else in between. Feedback appreciated

Typically I use text-only lead capture page.
But for the sales page, video converts way better than text; I would just recommend using a light video; possibly running it through handbrake before uploading. Video sales letters always convert better; definitely worth it.

Test. It's how you're going to know. Don't take my word or anyone's word for it. Test, measure and see if you are losing sales by creating two pages and see which one really does measure up.

But for now - it depends who your market nich is and income level, and understanding your audience behaviour etc.

For example there was a debate on web page size on width but for me, it doesn't matter, because I'm aiming at people who are already educated in that field, who will have upgraded in this matter. And my clients are in the $10,000 - £25,000 range for developing their marketing system.

Still I put on skype and asked using conference and found out, they are actually very advanced, upgraded to wide screen, like video and text, image, and they have fast server.

You can for now, try both on page. Video, with text underneath and image. However, your answer will be revealed in testing because anything we say is but assumptions.

Especially when it's to do with conversions, sales. Many factors play on this. How one markets, the copy etc. So best to test and measure.

I don't think Adam's advice can be repeated too often

What I'm gonna start doing is covering all bases online for my customers.
The site will have video and text. I've noticed some marketers using a
capture page for the video which is fine for someone with a highspeed
provider to view. Someone with a slow dialup cannot view that video which
is all that is on the marketers site, so the customer/prospect clicks off,
moves on and the company lost a customer. So I was just wondering if
others thought about this also. There could be lots of sales be lost, because
the marketer thinks everyone is current with highspeed technology.

Thanks for the helpful feedback and hope your day is going well.
