Hi, I'm new to BN, and I have just gotten back into direct sales and network marketing after being on a hiatus for a few years. I'm very excited and pumped up about my new business; however, I'm finding more and more people being afraid to get into direct sales and networking marketing opportunities because they were in something else before and after they signed up, they never heard from their sponsor again. That is just horrible...and unethical...and it really makes direct sales and network marketing look bad and makes us fall into the "pyramid scheme" arena. People start lumping it all together. It makes me NUTS! And then, I'm sitting there trying to tell them the truth, but it's too late...damage has been done! I'm just asking a common courtesy that if a sponsor is going to bring someone on, it has to be because of something more than getting the commission for bringing them in. You have to MENTOR them...take them by the hand...duplicate the process that has already been proven to work...and HELP them succeed. That's when the sponsor will truly succeed long term. And another thing...please provide FULL DISCLOSURE to your newbie BEFORE they sign up. I've been seeing so many posts from people who weren't told they had to buy product each month, and have a certain volume requirement to remain active and get commission, etc. It's very important that your newbie has a COMPLETE understanding of what they are getting into. Holding things back, or "forgetting" to tell them, only makes the whole thing look shady...which sets the tone for the sponsor/newbie relationship.
Anyway...thanks for listening! I wish you all well in your opportunities!

Welcome here !!
Truth and honesty has to come back into the industry ! Too many are posturing themselves as great leaders and spinning the truth to get people to sign up with them. Tragic but the only thing you can do is continue with what you are doing and your authenticity will shine through.
Good to have you on board.

Re: Sponsors...HELP YOUR NEWBIES!
Hey Deanna,
Welcome to Better Networker and welcome back to the biz!
Everything you talk about is why I direct my blogging and other activities online to teaching people how to get educated and how to become critical thinkers.
It is a shame that folks get so desperate to make money that they don't check out the fine print themselves.
I think another problem is that there are so many new distributors out there who are being mentored by a newbie who may be mentored by a newbie, that they themselves just don't know what they are doing wrong.
There's an old saying..."Be the change you want to see in the world."

Re: Sponsors...HELP YOUR NEWBIES!

Deanna Hi!
I agree with you...mentors or sponsors that do not help their recruits are acting in an unethical way.
We as mentors must do like the gentleman bellow:

Can you imagine the gentleman above making the excuses that the bad sponsors use to make...like:
" It is up to you to learn" or
" I do not spoon feed my down line"
" I got into this business (MLM) to have others produce my income in autopilot"
" What I was thinking is to have a down line that work and produce regardless I am with them or not"
" I do not babysit my down line"
" You do not flailed you just quit"
" Nobody thought me anything I figured all out by myself"
And list goes on...and on!
I am with you... we need to do the right thing...and never duplicate the wrong way to build a team.

I'm so agree with you on this one...
My direct upline actually decided not to continue her journey 2 weeks after she signed me up. I reached up, but it was far from getting any help and nobody to learn from.
I never thought about quitting though since I believe in products!
Just figuring out is a long and thorny way to Success--no Doubt!
I know better how to treat my team though. Unfortunately, not by example:(
And 100% agree about being upfront and honest regarding volume requirement and knowing your products!
