But I Never Have Time For My Business!

Postby Erika Samperio Solares on Thu Mar 08, 2012 9:55 pm

Yes you do! No matter how busy your day is, everyone has at least an hour to build their business. I go to college full time, work part-time, work on my business part-time and I still have time to develop myself listening or reading self-help books for a whole hour!

Let's break it down:

When your in the car you can make a simple call to a friend, family member or colleague which takes up to 2 minutes. It doesn't take long to talk to a prospect and qualify them, like I said 2 minutes up to 3 minutes is perfect!

You can also make calls during your lunch time. Before I eat lunch in my school I make sure I contact someone. Let's say you make 2 calls during lunch, that's 3 calls already!

The average American watches TV 20 hours a week, that is around 2 or 3 hours a day! Hmmm, don't you think instead of watching TV 3 hours a day why not watch an 1 hour. Besides, you can watch Finding Nemo another time! Like that you can make those 2 calls you have left because remember if you make 5 calls a day, 5 times a week, that is 100 people you talked to in a month. Working in your business 2 hour a day, instead of watching TV, is actually pretty good for a part time business.

So please don't ever say, you don't have time to build your business. I don't even watch TV because as you can see I have a full schedule already and I STILL manage to work on my business. That homework does not take 30 minutes to do!

Hope that helps!

You have some very good points here, Erika. You must also remember that you are a model for your products. Everyone sees you daily and can see how your own products works for you.
I have found out that you can only talk to people who are ready to listen. When they speak, listen intently. Learn their names and about them. You are showing them that you care about them.
I have heard my name being called out so many times, that other people know who I am. They are calling my name and I have never met them. We speak on friendly terms in passing. We are becoming friends just by hearing my name. As you build your business you are building on friendships. When they are ready to listen, they will find you without so much effort on your part!

Well said!

It is all down to desire and priorities.

If you want it bad enough you will find the time. If you can't find the time you don't want it bad enough.

There are massive time-sappers out there that people think they can't do without. My pet hate are the soaps on TV - people spend hours every day staring at make believe misery on tv, yet lots of them have miserable lives too. Ditch all the misery. Get up off the sofa. Turn the tv off. Make something of yourself!

Right on Erika, of course most of the calls come in to me, asking for more information and I don't make many calls out-bound or to 3rd party leads too much. Just sort and follow up on the prospects that are quality like Erika mentioned.

The question that you have to ask yourself is; what are my priorities, and then list them in order of importance - simple stupid Simon. For example, I work full time for a cell phone accessories Company doing their Search Engine Marketing (Professional SEO/SEM Specialist), and after work, I go to work on my business, and I do both online and offline marketing, advertising and sales.

So I'm more like Erika, not much time for AI, or other TV shows where you are basically trading your time to watch someone in a fantasy show, live their lives on the fake. What a waste of valuable time you can never get back. If you really think about it, you must really have no plan for your life overall if this is the case.

Granted I watch my Angels, Chargers, Kings, and Clippers here and there, and read and keep up to date on important news, but other than that, not much more.

And Erika is the rare exception and not the rule, because she is in an age group where playing with one's iphone or smartphone seems to be an addiction worse than some drugs, and it seems the smartphones are getting smarter than today's youth, so no wonder we have a teaching problem in schools these days.

Again, it comes down to lack of vision (...thee who lacks vision will perish...as written) and far too many people (say in around the 80% or more range) have no real concrete vision, and plan to carry their vision out. So right on Erika, I knew right off the bat that you were a "go getter" with smarts by reading your profile here on BN, and if things ever change with your business, you know where I'm at. 8-)

Sometimes you have to get a life! You can't do the business 24/7.
The time spent watching tv is quality time with your family and friends. We get out and take a walk in the park, go out to dinner, go to events everywhere. We have been invited to many churches. We go somewhere all the time. We don't have to push the business side but just meeting people and getting to know them. If they ask what you do, tell them. Then another question will arise and you could introduce your business opportunity. People will come to you when they are ready to listen. When they speak, listen intently. Don't try to sell anything until they ask. People can make a decision by what they see in you and the person they like to be like. Happy people will always have followers. This is attraction marketing at its best!

Hi Mario, good points.

My point about tv was not meaning that everyone should switch it off and just concentrate on business 24 hours a day, or have no other interests.

What I was really meaning was that there are people who say they have a desire to have a business but complain of having no time and yet sit for hours watching rubbish on tv. Those people need to make a choice over their priorities as they could use some of their non-productive time for a business. We all have to make choice and I agree with you in that I don't think it is healthy to have business as your only activity.

We all make time for what is important to us. No matter how busy we are if we really want to do something we do it. If finding time for your business is not possible we want to ask ourselves how bad do you want it.

Who said to work on the business 24/7? We got other stuff to do during the day as well . What I meant is that the average person watches TV for 2-3 hours and if they have a business they really want to succeed in it they would have to sacrifice some time to build it.We all know the business does not build by itself and in able to make it work people have to get up their feet and work on it.
