Hi Heather

I'm pretty sure you're going to find yourself inundated with company opportunities right now. Please think long and hard before you decide to join any of them. Make sure you check out the company and whoever is going to be your sponsor.

Think first what interests you, what are you looking for, how much time do you have to devote to the business, would you buy the products even if you weren't working for the company, how much of an upfront investment is required, what are the company rules on marketing and advertising... the list goes on and on.

Just don't be tempted to jump right in. You are the company to invest in right now. As a potential leader you are very valuable to any company so don't allow yourself to be swayed into signing up for something that isn't right for you and won't make the best use of your talents.
Okay, I finally opened up.

Check out how I can help you.

Hi Heather, first and foremost I'd recommend finding a product that you can get behind and support 100% that you would enjoy promoting.
Secondly, make sure that the compensation plan seems fair, is the best for your strengths, and will reward for your work and perhaps encourage a lot of teamwork (if you prefer that).
You'll also want to make sure that the company has been around for a long time and is stable.
Personally I wouldn't invest in a company that isn't transparent but that's just what I would do.

Once you have a product and compensation plan that you love, you can promote your company with total enthusiasm and there is no substitute for that.
When you have such enthusiasm for a company and it shows that you really love and believe in what you are doing, people will see that and will be more likely to work with you than if you think you are just signing them up. If you really believe a company is giving you what is best for you, you will feel as though you are giving others a real gift by offering them the opportunity that you have and not just sponsoring them for your own benefit. I hope you can see why it is beneficial to have this midset.

Thirdly, once you have the company and everything down, try to find a key group of people that you would like to work with, preferably leaders in their own right.
You can do things by trial and error but if you can come into the industry working with some of the top distributors in your company, you can learn from their experiences and find out what strategies work best. Although you can become a leader in your own right, you might as well work with the best if you can.

I hope that has been helpful to you!

Lastly, you don't work for the company Heather, you are an entrepeneur...let the company work for you!

There are alot of different things out there. Just make sure you do your homework so to speak. Make sure whatever it is you get involved with, it is something you truly believe in and use yourself. I mean, you can't recommend a movie to a friend without seeing it yourself, right? I was in your shoes not too long ago and I did alot of searching and homework until I found something that I truly believed in. I know there are ALOT of good opportunities out there but as soon as I found 'mine' it just felt right and I definitely have no problems or hesitation to recommend it to others. Good luck in your search and let me know if I can be of any further assistance. We're all here for the same reason anyway, no matter what field we represent. We market hope and opportunity.

Aside from how long a company has been around, its compensation plan, what it stands for, its products, etc etc. You also have to decide who to sign up under.

The whole reason most of us are here is to position ourselves as leaders in the industry. Unless you already have prior experience in MLM, finding a mentor and leader in this industry to sign up under is, I believe, more important than what company to sign up under. A massively successful network marketer who has made others massively successful is a good place to start. Or at least a person underneath someone who makes others massively successful. So no matter what comp plan your company has, being successful in it should be more important. It would be a shame if the company threw out contests and prizes and big comp plan payouts that you didn't know how to win or hit.

Does it matter that a company pays out more bonuses here and there or have any perks and incentives if you don't know how to reach it? Finding someone who can teach you to get there, and then teaching others in your team to get there is far more valuable than just what the company offers.

But don't get me wrong. Of course it's important to look at the company. Make sure it's been around for AT LEAST 5 years. Find a company whose products you believe in, it's company mission, it's purpose, and how it helps the general public. Find a company with a good track record, check out http://www.dsa.org for companies that are 'legitimate.' Also research comp plans and see how each is right for you. Each comp plan is geared towards a certain type of person, whether it be sharks, or the analytical types. Find the one that best suits you, or that you know you can be successful in. And lastly, finding the person or team you want to sign up under. Make sure they are successful or at least mentored by a successful person. Make sure you get along with them, that'll save some headaches later on. Having the team being internet savvy is a plus, although there are plenty of organizations out there that arent. The internet is a BIG tool for network marketers, and a team that doesn't use such a big tool might as well be in the medieval times. Of course if there's anything I've missed or have any questions, let us in the community know! We're always here to help!

Firstly, you should be working for yourself and only looking at a company which YOU can best leverage to get to where YOU want to. Working for someone is still an employee mindset.
And yes, you will be inundated with the 'best' of probably 50 companies so decide what it is you want and then which company can give it to you. Do a list of your strengths and weaknesses, likes dislikes and then narrow down the field.

I would suggest that you do your research and decide what it is that you enjoy doing and find a company that represents those interests. Also, check that the compensation plan pays part-timers to build their business and the company's management team is experienced in building a network marketing company and find out how many people would have to be in your pay plan in order for you to make residual income if that is what you are looking for. Also, you have to ask yourself are you a leader yet and can you become a leader because I believe that is a skill one needs to do this business successfully. But most importantly, research, research, research. I hope that helps. Much success 2you in whatever road you take.

Hi Featherica:

Just a note that, as others are stating, do your due diligence on any companies you are looking at. But more importantly, what are you really passionate about? One of the things I have found over the years is that I kept looking and trying things that would make me money and looked good but I wasn't really excited so therefore my attitude wasn't in the right place. Once you have check out the companies, in detail, - do you really like the product(s), how long have they been in business, what kind of management does it have, truly understand the compensation program and most importantly, will you have a sponsor who signs people up and expects you to learn the system training and is mostly hands off or will you have sponsor who is available to you to answer your questions and guide you thru the steps to build your business without having you do a list of your family, friends, coworkers, etc. That is definitely one way to make them all run in the other direction because they may not have the interest in looking for a way to make money from home as you are. One of the ways to build your business is personal branding and ask if they will teach you how to do that. In any business, the MOST important thing is your sponsor and an ongoing relationship because you want someone who really wants you to succeed. If you care to check out http://www.recreatingyourlifestyle.com.
Then if you have any questions, please give me a call and I will be happy to give you honest answers so you can truly make an informed decision as to what you want to do without any pressure.
