Yes testing is important. Equally as important, though is to track everything. :)

I follow what most of the big marketers do, they have an 80/20 rule. 80% rich content, and 20% promotion of offers. No one minds a daily e-mail which is what I do if they get enough value but they also get offers. Works for me!

Personally, I've gotten great results by providing continuous value in the first 30 days with a sprinkle of promotion (like 20% as Lynda suggested). They either took interest in what I do or purchased some product I either promoted personally or from an affiliate perspective.

1. Email your list daily
2. Segment your list by timezone
3. The people on your list that didn't open your email the first time, change the subject line and send your message again to those particular people to get more opens
4. Send a survey to your list to get feedback
