No one can really tell if you are a leader. But if you have a following and you are in the front, then you are surely leading somewhere that everybody else is going in the same direction.
A new minister is trained to be a leader. He just don't have any followers yet. It does take experience to lead where everybody is heading.

I love all the pointers above but mostly I think a leader shows by example - actions speak louder than words so if I'm aligning myself with someone, I want to know that they are successful so that I can follow in their footsteps and in turn, learn to lead my own team. I agree that being yourself is important but also knowing yourself and where your strengths and challenges are and continuously working on improving yourself. Be open to learning from others on your team as well; there is a wealth of knowledge out there that you can gain just by listening.

Hi Colette,
Be prepared to fail, however use these failures as opportunities to get better and better.
Be yourself, people want to follow you not an actor full of empty promises.
Don't try to blag and bluff people, people just want honesty, they can't improve and develop themselves if they are guided with dishonesty.
Follow great people and have a couple of mentors who have already achieved what you aspire to.
Always keep learning, keep inspired.
But above all....... Communicate!
Every great relationship has great communication. That's why the divorce statistics are so high!
Kind Regards,
Jayne x .

"A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position." John Maxwell
I think that sentence says it all.

Lead by example, most people rather watch a leader than listen to one, actions speak louder than words, it does sound cliche but it's true!

A good listener -
Leaders deal with human beings. And its natural for people to want to be assured that when they speak or give an opinion, the leader listens and pays special attention. He should also give genuine consideration.

Results !
When you say 97% are making less than $10 you MUST, as a leader, be able to produce results in your network marketing business. Otherwise it's the blind leading the blind (newbie teaching newbie: wannabe leaders posing as successful). Finding the leader who has or is producing results as well as all the other attributes you mentioned is crucial.

This is my opinion also. You have to find the right mentor. So many people online are faking it until they make it. I'm not a newbie as such, but I'm not making £10,000 a month and until I do, I'll never claim to. I think the honest way till stand the test of time and I won't be closing domains every 6 months when another venture has failed because I was telling an unconvincing lie.
Someone with a lot of energy and charisma that you can meet in person is perfect. I want to be influenced, only by the right people. I feel comfortable when I see proof of what can be achieved, so if I get to meet my sponsors and they arrive in a new BMW, have a smart appearance I instantly trust what they tell me in their teachings. Belief is therefore poured into the system I'm marketing and viola .... results will follow.
