Hi everyone,
How were you first introduced to Network Marketing and/or your present company?
Was it through a lead generation, friend, family, stranger, online, offline, flyer, etc.?

I always believe you start with your hot leads first, the people you k now that will jump at your offer. This motivates you because you will get a few quick sales.

Re: How were you first introduced to Network Marketing?
My first exposure to MLM was an invite to what turned out to be an Amway breakfast/opportunity meeting. That was in 1980, I was 20 years young and had just purchased my first Home.
I was single and had a good job making decent income for my age.
One day while working in my yard, a carpenter who was doing work on the house next door called me to the fence and asked me if I had ever thought about working for myself and being my own boss?
In my mind I thought he was asking me if I wanted to be his apprentice and he'd teach me carpentry.
Long story short, he invited me to a breakfast, which I ended up going to with his wife. It was an Amway business briefing.
It was a lot of people there, great food and a table set up in the corner loaded down with all sorts of products.
After a while a gentleman stood up and began to show some slides of big fancy homes, boats and cars with people in the pictures looking happy and smiling.
He then proceeded to pose the question, who here would like to live like this?
Of course my hand went up.
Then he went into details of how you could live this life style IF, you sold the products on the table.
We left the meeting and I never heard anymore from the carpenter, but I do believe Amway and that meeting planted the entrepreneur bug in me.
So my first introduction to the MLM industry was through a stranger, although at the time I didn't know anything about MLM.

Re: How were you first introduced to Network Marketing?
I was first introduced to marketing when I made a product and tried to market it to my friends. Somebody else made a better product and mass produced it faster than I could. Even though it was made of soft plastic it held up better than the leather goods.
From then on, I was doing what everybody was introducing me to try.
I found something that I like and could see the benefits of the products. There are a lot of good products that would show good benefits. I chose one and stuck with it for the past five years.

Re: How were you first introduced to Network Marketing?
Funnily enough, I was being prospected by two friends at the same time who were in two different MLM companies at the time.
One invited me to a 'business presentation', which was the first one I saw and my very first exposure to MLM.
I didn't give squat about the products, but I fell in love with the business model right away. This was the first time ever I was introduced to the model and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
I didn't join straight away though, as I asked some of my other friends for feedback first.
I told some friends about it, they had no idea what I was talking about - except one friend, who was also in another MLM, completely different company. I was invited by this friend to a 'Financial Crisis' seminar (I didnt know it was gonna be an MLM presentation at the end, lol).
I seriously had no idea what was going on at the time. One was bad-mouthing the other in each company. The other, couldn't really care whether I joined or not and said to just trust myself and my feelings.
But I placed my faith on the friend that I trusted the most. The journey started from there.

I do hope it sparks some thought. I just wonder what a poll would reveal from all the members on Better Networker about how they got involved with MLM. One can then use that information and use it to build their business. I am really surprised that not to many have answered the simple question.

Re: How were you first introduced to Network Marketing?
Like many, my first introduction to network marketing was through Amway. I was invited to a meeting by a co-worker, signed up, but never really did anything. At the time, my upline group was teaching the philosophy of "get them to a meeting and DON'T tell them it's Amway no matter what they ask".
While I could understand the need to get past preconceptions and all that, I just wasn't comfortable with that approach.
The experience planted the seed, though. Later I found success with a different opportunity.

Hi,
For me, it was at a friend home after a party and I was little bit sick after too much beers. I didn't understand anything from the presentation.
