What happened here? Probably gonna get banned for this post.

Postby Brian Schultz on Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:09 am

So this is going to piss some people off, but it holds alot of truth. Might even get this post deleted or get myself banned but it has to be said.

I haven't been on here in awhile but I'm just wondering what happened to this forum? Seems like I poke my head in here the discussions are stagnant, rehashed discussions that have been beaten into the ground, or people posting just to post stuff.

I mean how many times can we discuss if a funded proposal works or not? How many times can we talk about how MLM is not a scam? How many times can we talk about being successful in MLM is all about sticking with it?

Dare I say this forum has gotten boring?

I used to enjoy coming on here and reading and participating in the discussions but now they are just uneventful. It seems like this place has become akin to a Facebook group where people just write about anything in the hopes that someone will click their link and opt in to their list.

This was supposed to be a place not to blatantly self promote, but it has just become a place to subtly self promote. Everything that is posted in here for the most part has an ulterior motive.

What happened to good content? What happened to offering value? Seems to have gone by the wayside.

And where are the mods? Is anyone here policing this place? In other forums of the same discussions are being created time and time again they are either consolidated into one post to get rid of the clutter and noise, or they are deleted because there is no use for them.

That is how a forum is supposed to be run. Clean, fresh discussions, that aren't the same old repeated topics that are just in new packaging to make them look different.

Can we all take a responsible approach and stop posting just to post? Can we stop replying if we really have nothing to say? If you don't have anything to contribute the don't bother. You are not helping anyone, and your link in your signature is not going to help you get your site ranked and most likely no one is going to click on it because we have already seen that squeeze page before, and have already purchased that particular funded proposal system.

Write something interesting, write something controversial, write something of value, write something funny. Stand out, get noticed, make some good noise and not just white noise.

Is this an angry rant? No, it's just a rant :D , and if anything, at least it's a different topic of discussion that the usual repeated stuff.

Hi Brian,

You get my vote, lead by example. Help us get back on track.

What, in your opinion, can we as a community do to get our swag back?

I use to post the stuff that needs to be said but not many commented on it. So I have now been making posts that will get people to talk.

The same is true here people don't read or post on what they need they read what they want.

Fair point Chris and I agree and get that.

But people do post based on what they need on here. They need leads. So they post here thinking they are going to get tons of them here (which they aren't). And by posting non valuable content just for the sake of posting and getting "exposure", it brings down the value of the forum.

Are there good discussions on here that give people what they want, yeah, but very few. It's more the case of people posting because it's what THEY want. Which defeats the purpose of this forum.

Brian,

It gets like that on most MLM / network marketing / home business type forums over time. It takes strong moderators and experienced members who actually lead and help direct discussions down productive paths to make it any different.

I just started participating here again after laying off a couple years or so, and I've noticed the same repetition and "posting just to be noticed" that you have.

@Brian - You nailed it man.

Add the word "bad advice" to your list of "stagnant, rehashed" discussions.

I am sure reading some of the threads here would make many people bang their heads on the wall.

There are many discussion threads here that are pointless, dumb and in fact highly misleading for a newbie.

Many of us probably have marketing systems and biz opportunities, so I think putting in affiliate links, primary opportunity links, etc. into forum posts is a bit cheesy. Provide great value and the link to your blog/website. Those who are interested in what you have to say can click on your website link. Then do your selling over on your website, not here. ;)

Actually Brian is not referring to that thing.

Posting links in actual posts is spamming and betternetworker is doing a great job of keeping spammers at bay.

What is really happening here is that a lot of people are posting monstrous volumes of crappy posts in the hope that they will reach out to a lot of people who will click their signature links.

Maybe it works (i don't know) but the forum gets affected big time when useless topics gets discussed again and again.

Exactly Jagan. I have no issues with signature links. We all need ways to promote. I don't care if there are 50 links in someones signature.

I go on the warrior forum alot and they keep things pretty organized. The mods delete repetitious threads or combine them with similar threads, and they are pretty good at calling out spammers.

That being said, I understand that it would reduce the number of topics in a given board, but personally I would rather have 4 topics on a board that 4000 topics of white noise.

People want to promote and I get that, but I just think things could be moderated better here.

I thought was only me watching all the drama that is going on in here!

At times I thought that I was going COO COO!

You both has expressed so clearly ...that I have only one thing to add...

That the points system that reward quantity...NO QUALITY...is in most part the thing to blame for the mess we are witnessing...quantity is what make the ranking of B.N. goes up on Alexa...so B.N is happy with lots of nonsense activity.

You all be well,
