Same blog post - different authors??

Postby Joyce Penner on Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:13 pm

What's up with that?

Took me a minute to realize I'd read this particular post before. Scrolled down to the bottom to see the author as the writing style wasn't the usual author's style and it was unsigned. Since then I've seen the same article all over the place.

Would you republish an article, without or with your signature when it's all over the internet already?

That's branding yourself?

I agree with you !! Give the original author credit at the very least.
But it's funny to see ONE article plastered all over the place yet the perception is that you need to brand you by your originality, your authenticity and your honesty. And that is being accomplished how?

Hi Joyce,
If a whole article was so good I would share it, which shows visually it's not your own, however gives you more credibility as a person because you are not having to promote someone else's work as your own and really assists with building relationships and networking with people.
If I take quotes from someone else's post I would give credit.
Crash and burn is what generally happens as these people as they are not actually developing themselves, afterall what are they getting better at doing on a daily basis?
Kind Regards,
Jayne

no you never steal other people's content and you also don't download people's videos on youtube just to put them back online on yours and lead them to your own affiliate site, get off your lazy ass and do the work yourself so that you can be proud of it

If the guru gives me permission to post their content on my site as long as I keep their resource box intact, I don't see any problem in doing that, as long as it's valuable content and it helps people. I've done it a few times on my site, but I let the reader clearly know that it wasn't something I wrote.

Funny, this happened to me just recently too. Some guru ripped off my blog post word for word and posted it on their site. Thankfully, the search engines indexed the content on my site first. They didn't even mention my name nor link back to my site in any way. I very politely asked them to either take it down, completely change the post or at least credit back to me and my site and keep the links intact.

Funnily enough, because they copied word for word, there are some links that they didn't copy making the content a bit awkward to read because I refer to a third party resource lol.

As flattering as the gesture was, the fact that I didn't get credited at all was not cool. He even added a video that was against the tonality of my original post too which I thought was a bit hilarious.

Oh well, lesson learned. At least I let my syndicate know and my post was viral enough for a lot of people know where the original came from.

A few things to note about syndication though...

Article directories - submitting your content this pretty much means that you are giving permission for your content to be copied, subject to terms and conditions, like keeping your resource box intact, etc.

Youtube - by uploading your vids to Youtube, you are fully aware that Youtube owns that video on their domain. Which means that anyone can embed your video and post it on their site. This has happened to some of my videos, and I don't particularly care, since the video still indicates that it is... well you know... done by me.
