So I wrote an article on my blog once about Web 2.0 marketing, and how it can be extremely effective in generating lots and lots of leads for free.
For those of you who aren't sure what it is, here's the article I wrote back in September. Hopefully it will give you a clear understanding of what is Web 2.0, and how you can start using it right away without spending a dime to generate lots of leads for your business.
Keep in mind that it does take time to be fully effective, and this article is part of a 3-part series I wrote. Here's the first part:
----------------------------
"'Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.' – Wikipedia
So what is Web 2.0? Is it real? Does it exist? Or is it just a fancy term to describe the way the young generation of users is using the internet these days?
The answer is ‘yes’ to all of the above. And it’s important that you recognize the advantage of Web 2.0 if you want to jump on board, and generate MASSIVE amounts of traffic and leads to grow your downline overnight.
A few days ago, I wrote about how most people in this industry don’t invest enough to learn marketing. After all, it is called Network MARKETING.
But now there’s a way for you to seriously leverage the networking aspect of the business
In the above definition of Web 2.0 by Wikipedia, websites now allow users to share content, collaborate, and form communities.
In the old days of the internet (referred to as Web 1.0), all you had were websites, chat rooms, and programs you could download onto your computer.
Now, you have blogs where people can update content quickly and comment on. You also have social networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook.
You also have social bookmarking sites such as Digg.com and StumbleUpon.
These social sites constitute Web 2.0, and allow people to share, vote, comment on, and tag data (photos, videos, articles, blogs, websites, etc.).
Another way of looking at it is that in Web 2.0, websites are now dependent on the end user to develop content, instead of the web master.
What would YouTube be without users making their own videos? What would Facebook be without college kids putting up photos and profiles?
Now here’s the beauty of it all. Since these websites are so heavily dependent on users interacting and posting content, they’ve developed huge communities. Myspace alone has well over 200 million people on it.
And it’s just one of MANY websites. Which means you can put yourself in front hundreds of millions of people, and market to them. People can see your profile, bio, pictures, videos, audio, friends, and personal hobbies.
This way, they get to interact with you and build trust with you.
You can share your marketing material on these sites, either through a video, a bookmarked site, or a posted article, and you can have unlimited prospects for your business.
So…
For the next few days, I’m going to post up an article about each of these different types of Web 2.0-based websites. I’ll go over how they function, and how you can use them to generate more leads than you can possibly handle.
And the beauty of it all is that it’s FREE! "

Hi, I'm a brand new person on the internet also. I'm in the process of learning how to blog. It's nice to know there are others out there. Good luck to you. Also, if you are more senior than junior in age, I read about a TeeBeeDee.com. Haven't gone there yet, but hear it is like myspace for more senior people. I will be checking it out.

Hey Portia,
It's been very effective in generating traffic and free leads. You just have to be consistent with it for it to work.

Re:Web 2.0: What is it & how can it generate leads
Hey Everyone,
In August I participated in a free online course called 30 Day Challenge - www.thirtydaychallenge.com. The course taught us so much about keyword marketing on the internet and especially Web 2.0 marketing. Anyone can join the 30 Day challenge at anytime - it will blow your mind!
To give you an example of how social networking and web 2.0 tools helped me, my blog I created for the thirty day challenge ( www.howtoattractaman.blogspot.com ) got listed in Google under the keyword phrase "how to attract a man" in around 3 hours and I came in on the 2nd page (it's now number 9 spot on 1st page)! Now, I was like "That's pretty cool", but for people who have been marketing on the internet for years and who participated in the 30DC - this was unheard of!
So for a complete overview and the step by step lessons to understanding the power of Web 2.0, then I would recommend investing your time in the 30 Day challenge. I have had so much traffic and so many leads coming to me from the work I did in the 30DC, that it has given me great value to be able to help others in my team looking to increase their web presence.
This new Magnetic Sponsoring site is a Web 2.0 example. It is a way for us all to participate in social networking, create links to our websites (which Google loves) and increase our web presence.
Be warned - use it for GOOD. Spammers ruin the atmosphere of web 2.0 and can be booted off very quickly. Great quality content is the key. It's about offering helpful information (just like Shiraz has done) and by doing so, you can make some great sales and attract quality people to you and your business.
All the best with it!

Have you heard of DirectMatches? It is like My Space only it is business oriented and a lot more controlled atmosphere.
It was the first business & social network in 2004 to include a commission plan while
advertising your business at the same time.
We have now grown to over 200,000 members worldwide. We have some very good advertising features like classifieds, forums, blogs, event calendar and more. We also have My Tube which is like You Tube whereby you upload your video and they give you a code or website url to post all over the internet plus your video is rotated inside DirectMatches for everyone to see.
If you are looking for exposure for yourself or your business I suggest you check DirectMatches out.
Here is part of a recent press release by PR Web Release News Wire:
DirectMatches is the fastest-growing, most popular business network, and it has captured a wide margin of the small and home-based business market.
Beyond some of the coolest technology rolled out on the face of the planet, the company's success lies with the fact that it provides super-fast customer support and treats all members with the utmost importance. The community is like a giant family where everyone helps everyone else be successful. Contests and prizes keep it fun, while members network with people from all over the world. And just when you think you've seen it all, DirectMatches' strategic management team releases something new and dynamic. Clearly the stage has been set to rival YouTube and MySpace.
"DirectMatches is the most amazing and RESPONSIVE sites we have ever seen! There is so much to do here and so many ways to market/advertise that you could literally spend your entire day here just promoting your businesses and making contacts.”
Have a look at my profile to see what you can do in there - http://directmatches.com/profiles/goldie
Best Wishes,
Goldie
